I might buy that. I could just let all 4 gravity bleed for a day since I have 4 other cars to drive...but I do like suction power...HA

These connect to the brake fluid reservoir, and force new fluid through the system.

You can fill the tank with brake fluid if you want, but I just leave it empty and check the brake fluid level & add for each corner.

I had multiple cars with different brake fluid, and did t want to be dealing with cleaning out the pressure tank.

Another bit of info i have found is DEX6 is not recommended for manual transfer cases that were originally filled with DEX3.
DEX6 is thinner then DEX3 and apparently to thin for some manual applications.

there's a whole rabbit hole about this type of stuff in older manaul trannys too, old but not the real only that used brass. if they came with Dex 3 some say dex 6 is fine, others say it's really bad and to slippery and later manauls changed friction material to use synthetic 6.

my take is basically it depends on what your friction cones are made of. stuff like redline MTL says it's safe for all material but not slippery like atf and thicker like 75w80 gear lube that the gears itself want.

and oddly 75w80 is a totally different scale than engine oil, so your 5w30 is probably pretty close.

it's all a mess really. gm also makes and sells a syncromesh fluid thst would probably be great for your box lol.

It is a messy black hole for sure and applies to pre 2006. My TC is from a 2005.
After stumbling on the whole debate and doing some reading most say not to use dex6. Some say to use GM manual transmission fluid as it's renamed from dex3.
Gm says do not use dex6 in any manual TC that requires dex3 and use GM manual transmission fluid
Others list off a whole list of acceptable fluid.
Then i run across the different friction cone material. Really not much info out there on that.
I then watched a video with Kodiak trucks who is a well known TC rebuilder. In the video he explained the different cone friction material's.
When rebuilding they only use low metallic cones and that is why they demand the use of 5w-30 oil for there rebuilt TC's
It all sounds reasonable to me so that's what im doing.

Continued my exhaust/muffler experiments. The other day I cut the ends off my MBRP (stainless clone) muffler to see what made it tick, and realized there was room in each of the "chambers" to add some dampening material to cut down on the boomy resonance.

I ordered some 1" thick ceramic muffler packing and some stainless screen, and started wrapping. Once the sides were packed I practiced my bad welding to seal it up, and installed it today. Definitely an improvement from before, and basically now a tubular, chambered, Magnaflow-type muffler.

I didn't try to add packing material in the center section. I figure that's open to equalize something.

It has a similar but slightly more aggressive tone than the AP XS 2579, due to it just being smaller in overall body diameter. It looks janky due to the 3 year old paint wearing off. The stainless underneath is in perfect shape.

120lbs. of bumper plates arrived by UPS yesterday. I won't have time for a while to start messing around with that project while I gather more stuff, wait for the weather to clear up/dry out, and still try to find a 2nd bumper cover to chop up.

Found a nice set of 823 heads. Fb marketplace fell through (shocker!), so I decided to call the local machine shop that I’ll be using for the engine work. They had a single set ready to go. Just gotta swap out my springs/retainers/locks (so I get to learn how to do that). Got a spring tool already.

It was going to cost $590 for the work on the 317s. I did not want to put that much money into those heads, and these were $750. Plus I can sell my 317s and LSA adapter plates. Going to end up spending less on heads by going with these. I’m happy!!

Been waiting a week for a new range hub to get here for the transfer case. It is the wrong part:( Mine is not so bad i can't reuse it but dang it's apart and i want a new one.
Turns out there is an old style and a new style.
Where the shift fork rides, mine measures .320 The new style measures .370 where the fork rides.
Guess what, they both have the same part number because everyone is too stupid or lazy to differentiate between the two.
I really wanted to put that together tomorrow but nope, gonna be another week. No big deal really cuz i can't put it in yet anyway but what a let down.

and sometimes a photo is no good cause the idiots send the different one anyway

I can't remember the last automotive repair project I did where every part arrived correct, undamaged and on time. The supply chain has been a shambles since 2020, and doesn't seem to have completely recovered. Maybe it never will. I ordered a simple item from Home Depot and UPS couldn't even deliver it to the right town. HD basically said, sorry and refunded my money. But now I have to reorder and wait. No one cares about my timeline, or that of my customers.

Over the weekend, I installed new upper control arms loaded with the Belltech Camber Fix Kit and then got the Esky aligned on Monday and everything is now 100% in spec whilst lowered 2/4. I'm a very happy man and she's now 98% ready for our road trips over the next 3 months. We've got about 4 planned :)
