Drove about 2.5 hours on the interstate yesterday. The BFGs worked good. They’re definitely not Michelin smooth, but still no complaints.

The whole truck rides much different than the K2xx we had before. The 10-speed sure is nice. Makes one realize how clunky the old 6-speed is. LOL!

Actually not. They were leftover pieces of ice from the ice storm three weeks ago. Which (ice/snow) is not so usual down here in Texas
You are lucky))) we have snowdrifts in some places already higher than 1 meter))

Nice to see how these trucks endure the severe winter weather!
Have any problems with any of the hi tech stuff getting glitchy in the Russian winter?

I am in Florida but a couple weeks ago we were in San Antonio Texas during the artic blast and our rental car froze encrusted in a half inch of solid ice after a light drizzle.
I ended up getting a shuttle to the airport and just left the rental car (Subaru Outback ) in the parking lot.
I couldn’t open the door and was afraid to damage the vehicle if I forced the situation.

Ever have this situation with your Yukon and how did you deal with it?

Of course, there were no such problems. Well, rather, we have regions where there are freezing rains, but this is also not a reason not to go by car))) The ice calmly gets knocked off the Car.
There is a lot of snow, yes, Yukon copes with this without any problems. That's the only thing that in the very first winter I removed the Electric steps, and installed fixed ones from a simpler configuration. As it is, the Yukon calmly tolerates snow drifts, salt from roads and mud, and even frost -40C.
An important point is, before the start of winter, we usually coat all the rubber bands of the doors, trunk, and hood with silicone grease to avoid freezing them.

My project for this week was to swap the middle bench for buckets.

Removed bench on Thursday, then yesterday did a quick 550 mile roundtrip to pick up the buckets and bolted them on. Such an easy swap and everything looks and works (heat and power fold) like from factory.

Used the piece of carpet I cut to get the left side seat to bolt on the floor to fill in the hole on the right side and the WeatherTech third row mat finishes up the rest.

Most likely have the bench sold already, so that brings the cost of the swap to $200 plus a few hours of driving time and a little over a tank of gas. Not bad.

More stuff today. Finally got around to installing the J&L catch can I’ve had on the shelf for a few weeks already.

Took all of maybe 10 minutes or so from the moment I opened the garage door. LOL!

Oil change time. Also installed a Fumoto valve while down there. Looked pretty clean with no leaks and such. Good to go.

BTW, I freaking hate the T1xx hood design. That useless sharp front corner is the devil. :biggun::flame:

Yea, that's a bad hood design! Really had no idea that the Tahoes' are like that. I'm glad my Yukon's hood isn't like that.

Last night I was having a good time, celebrating my middle daughter's 21st birthday at a restaurant in Santa Monica. Afterwards, we're all cruising down Wilshire Boulevard at a comfortable 28 miles an hour - when I look within the cluster of vehicles I'm with and notice a police cruiser. Didn't think anything of it because I wasn't breaking any laws. 10 minutes later and I get flashed. WTF... So I immediately pull over. My youngest daughter is freaking out and my wife is sort of panicking because she doesn't know what was going on. Born and raised in Los Angeles, you grow accustomed to the profiling by law enforcement. But when you're much older, mature, you leave the city for a quieter life. That's us right now. So going into L.A. is a rarity for the wife and I, while the kids love it.

Okay so the young female officer shines her bright lights into my Yukon, demands we roll down the window, and proceeds to shine everyone in the face with her Mag light. Immediately, she tells us that she pulled me over because of my window tint. Mind you, my tint is the same darkness as the stock rear windows. Dark enough to keep the sun out of my face during the day, but light enough at night for you to make out a person and clothing details inside while driving under street lights. Needless to say, it's been 20 years since I've had any kind of law enforcement ticket, and this "routine traffic stop" is just another reminder why I hate driving to Los Angeles.

That sucks. Do you have to now prove that you've removed it, or what?

Time to switch to the easily removable tint that is now available, or if the pocket book allows, the electronic tint that can be turned on and off lol

Isn't CA law for front side windows something like 30%? IIRC, the rest are something like 20-25% from the factory. So yeah, if you have something under 30%, you aren't in compliance, but also sounds like the officer was splitting hairs. Hope you can get out of the ticket.
