Steering wheel options

I have had my eye on the Autowoods wood grain steering wheel for my '08 Burb LTZ for a while. It was always a want and not a need. Now I was thinking about buying it and their website is no longer functional.

I saw they have an Ebay store but it doesn't show the same wood grain options that their website did. I have contacted them through Ebay because their email address says undeliverable when I tried to email them.

Does anyone know of another company that makes/sells the wood grain wheels any more? I know the spoke covers are still available.

Also, curious if anyone has ever tried to put a Chevy Traverse steering wheel on a Tahoe/Suburban? They look the same as ours and have the same 15" diameter but not sure if the spline count and size are the same. My guess is yes because it makes sense from a manufacturer stand point but GM lists different part numbers.

The reason I ask about the Traverse wheel is because there is one that looks identical to mine on Amazon for a reasonable price. I even verified the part number on a GM Parts site to be sure they weren't just using a stock photo and they look the same to me.

The leather on the top of my wheel has finally worn through and it bugs me. If I can't find the wheel I want then I may have to resort to re-wrapping the leather outer portion and getting the wood spoke covers.

Any help is appreciated. Maybe one of you guys bought an Autowoods wheel and never installed it and it is collecting dust on a shelf and I could get it out of your way... lol

I have considered it but the wood grain doesn't match the LTZ wood grain on the dash. Same holds true for the Denali. They all have there own pattern/color.

Plus the wood ring on the Denali/Esky is known to come loose from the wheel. I really like the full upper and lower wood with the leather sides.

Fixed mine with gorilla glue like 4 years ago, hasn't come loose again

Aside from the wood in the Denali/Esky not matching, I believe every factory wheel in those was Ebony or Cocoa. I don't ever recall seeing a Titanium leather one. Although I could be wrong.

there was a 08 suburban that showed up in the junkyard recently that had the faux wood trim but the color looked lighter than mine in the Denali, I believe you are correct also that the wood trim color is different in the escalades/denali's every time I see a trim piece I might want the color is slightly off. the trim around my radio could be replaced it already had rub marks when I bought it but haven't found one that matches yet.
There was or is a company that re-wrapped the gm steering wheels to more like a camaro or corvette style but I believe you have to either send in yours or pay for a core, I don't think they do wood though.
these guys popped up first search on google, not sure if they "change" the finish but it says they do custom work

Yep, my guess is the Enclave and Traverse probably use the same wheel, and it is probably the same as ours but don't have a way to verify.

Those AZA wheels are pretty neat but way to rich for my blood. I already stumbled upon them but didn't mention them due to the crazy pricing.

The other sites I saw too but haven't contacted them yet.

The Autowoods I was originally looking at was fairly reasonably priced, somewhere around $400-$500 set up just the way I wanted it if I recall.

I just contacted the above vendors and will see what they say.

one member changed his to a k2 wheel, I think he had some minor issue's routing the button controls but it mostly worked, have not seen any post's on it in a while. if you search the forum you might find some reference to it. not sure if he ever got it 100% or not.

I ended up buying one for a Buick Enclave. Haven't been home to try it out yet but from the pics my son sent it looks like it will bolt right on.

So as it turns out, the Enclave steering wheel runs a bigger spline than a Suburban.

Why on earth GM changed something so trivial is beyond me. That is one thing I have always loved about GM is the way they keep things simple and use the same parts between varying models. Why they decided that it would be cost effective to change things up on the steering wheel splines of all things I do not know.

I decided to just bite the bullet and order the wood wheel I have wanted for a long time. It appears that Autowoods is no longer in business and the only place I could find one for a "reasonable" price was on CarID from a company called B&I trims I believe.

It says I should have it by April 2nd so we shall see.

If anyone is looking though I have a really nice Buick Enclave steering wheel for sale with the Gray Titanium leather and really nice real Mahogany wood at the top and bottom.
