2200 hours kind of seems like a lot of idling time. Or really slow trips. I know you mentioned short trips must have just been around town. Just basing this off my truck (ram) 135k miles and a little over 3,000 hours total.

The others who may or may not have offered them that much probably didn't look it over as closely as you. I applaud you for looking it over very well.

The seller texted me that he says the engine and transmission are the heart of the vehicle and the concerns/problems I showed and pointed out to him are minor and he knows what he has and it's value. That tells me I am still in his head and he did not call any of the so called "$10k to $13k" offers, he had already turned down. I texted back that whoever checks it out and finds what I found will walk away at his price and he may sell to a rube that does not know what is going on. I also reminded him that right at that moment he still has the ad up saying there are no scratches. I asked how he sleeps at night? I then reminded him that I showed him to his face, all of the concerns and why. My offer of $9k is as high as I go.

Those are DIC readout engine hours. Not just idle time.

Hopefully he comes to his senses and works a deal with you. Nice looking ride.
Ever since I asked how he sleeps at night, there has been no contact and the ad is still up and is still at $15k and still says no scratches. A rust free truck like that should have been sold by now.

I actually ran in to my shop owner buddy's dad today and got a close up look at his 2004 2500HD Silverado 4x4 crew cab short bed. I got a "w*o*o*d*y". There is actually no scratches or dents, interior is perfect and the engine compartment looks like mine only with a 6.0. We talked and now I am gonna help him find his replacement truck so I can have his.

Did everyone forget? The DIC includes an hour meter as well, if your worried about a lot of idling time. Then of course, look closely at things like belts, hoses, battery cable ends, brakes, loose or missing fasteners and braces, etc.

Bottom line, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That guy thinks he has a prize. It's really only worth what someone will pay for it. I usually buy really high mileage vehicles that are clean and they have treated me well, but that's me. Risk/reward. All my vehicles have over 200k miles on them, just need to take care of them.

This is on the 2006 Tahoe Z71 Silver Birch Metallic, that I looked at the other day.

Well, the guy has big b*a*l*l*s, I will tell you that. He added a pic of the big scrape to the list of CL pics, added wording in the ad to describe the scrape and get this, he upped the asking price by $3k to a total of $18k Or Best Offer.

The size of his balls will make them easier to kick with the Best Offers he manages to get.
