I’m looking at a used 2021 Escalade Platinum and it has tinted passenger and driver windows. I’m wondering if that’s from factory or if it can be removed. I didn’t see an option in the configurator.

Does anyone know whether it can be removed and how easy / difficult it is to do it? Thanks

The front driver and passenger windows are not factory tinted (other than a very light tint that's part of the glass). If you don't want to remove aftermarket tint yourself, any window tinting place will remove it for you for about $35.

A tint shop can remove it but why would you want to? Who wants to drive a fish bowl?
I’m only talking about passenger and driver side in the front. I want it like it came from factory as it’s too dark inside. I’m living in an area with winter… I’m getting depressed if it’s too dark lol

Its easy to remove as I have removed a few. Just peal back a corner and pull it off in one sheet the take some windex window cleaner and spray it down let it soak for about a minute then get a straight razor blade and scrap the window using the blade on an angle to get the glue off. Don't postion the blade straight up put it on a angle like using a putty knife. If you can get a rag and put it in between the inside rubber sweep and the window so the glue snot wont get inside and everytime you open and close the window you will have glue streaks on the glass.

Thanks for all the responses. Now that we're talking windows I figured other things which are very odd.
Would you please take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think what that could be and/or how to fix it?
I assume it falls under factory warranty as the car is still in warranty until October.

1. - there's like a frost pattern on the windshield in the right bottom corner (passenger side)
2. There's a rubber that comes off from one of the rear windows
3. It also looks like one of the front head lamps got replaced as there's this blue stuff and it doesn't fit 100% anymore.

What do you think?

Walk away from that vehicle it looks like a aftermarket windshield and the lament is separating on the windshield plus that vehicle was not taken care of abused or wreaked, run from it. And from your other post about the tires almost bald and dry rotted. Don't buy it.

Well I had it in shop where I put my cars in for regular maintenance and they said overall it‘s a decent car. They couldn’t help much with the window questions but yeah… not sure what to do now. Aftermarket windshield is a problem because I would need a new one down the road?

The windshield has been replaced, but that is a Pilkington. They are an OEM supplier to GM, so I wouldn't be concerned about the quality. Not sure what to make of the frosted appearance, but it looks to me like it is an intentional pattern, like someone had it done for appearances.

It‘s surely not intentional. It shouldn’t be in that corner but at least it‘s not in the middle

I guess to each their own. I won’t own a vehicle without tint, that’s usually done within a week of ownership. I don’t want people seeing in and it keeps the heat down because I do it on all windows.

I may be wrong, but that windshield looks like it might have tint on it and that bubble in the corner is the tint separating from the glass. Windshield was definitely replaced either way. Looks like the bumber under the headlight is not lining up either. Guessing it was in an accident which required the headlight to be replaced and possibly the bumper. Carfax won't show an accident if there was no police report and it wasn't reported to insurance.

Oh tha‘s a good catch. That might be true. I will have to take a closer look. Thanks for the hint!!

As for accidents: yes, we thought about that too, but the bolts of the head lamp are obviously not changed / moved. There‘s also no sign of aftermarket painting on the edges. However, what I read in the service reports is that they previously had issues with the daylight not turning off and they did something to it. I see they reprogrammed SPS (whatever that means) but I have no documentation about whether they had to replace anything.

Use a steamer and a blade. Just don't sit in one spot too long.

If the service department did replace the headlight, they may have installed the bumper incorrectly when putting it back together. My understanding is the bumper (and possibly the grille) has to be removed to replace a headlight.

The headlight “blue stuff” is a car wash brush that got stuck in the crack and tore off. This happens on my Denali occasionally too…from day 1, and it is perfectly aligned and fits perfectly…a consequence of the design not meshing well w/ a car wash…

But, a CarGax would show if there was any accident damage at all.

Not necessarily. Carfax can only report what is reported to them and there are A LOT of municipalities and shops that do not report. Always check the Carfax but never assume that’s all the information.

Depending on where you live, tinted front side windows are just an invitation for law enforcement to pull you over. Here in Iowa, anything darker than factory stock tint is illegal. My wife was pulled over for it after we bought our last Yukon with tint already on the window.
