Went outside this morning to check the mail and saw this.

Asked my wife what she hit.... she said "Oh, I bumped a light pole in the lot at work... is it bad?"
Is it bad? There is concrete dust on the damn thing.

Count to ten, it will be a good weekend, it WILL be a good weekend

I remember when my mom drove through the garage door when I was a kid. Then she hit the mailbox a couple times trying to get mail from car.

My father however, bought a BRAND new truck. We got stuck, went to give him a push and he gunned it... My mom and I almost face planted in the snow as he drifted his truck up on the the curb and side swiped my grandma's mailbox. It was pretty epic, and make a massive scratch all the way down the bed, until it hit the rear marker and ripped it apart. Definitely not buffing that out!

Yeah, pretty minor what your wife did. Most of that looks like it could buff out. You can repaint it as well. It appears to the plastic cover that snaps to top of bumper and touch of the lower bumper. It comes off really easily. Take it apart and you can paint it up yourself with single stage if you're feeling brave. Otherwise, a reasonable shop w/ mixing station can mix / color match w/o having to buy a whole pint of paint. Problem is the bleep'n paint got SUPER expensive. If you buy the minimum to just paint the bumper you're looking at several hundred dollars. However, a shop can mix up JUST enough and should cut you a good deal especially if you sand and prep the part yourself. Should you go that route, just get brown scratch pads from the auto paint store and really scratch it up. Then clean it with alcohol and take it to paint shop.

I told her if she she wants it painted to match she can pay for it.
Otherwise it stays how it is until I can find a Craigslist/Marketplace steel bumper.
This isn't the first time she has done this. Six months ago she backed into a pole and smashed the rear bumper. And a year before that, she crunched the factory step bars because she was tired of waiting in the drive-thru at Starbucks...and drove off a foot and a half curb.

I would watch out and not piss her off when you are standing and she is in the vehicle.

I mean....front bumper corner, rear bumper and step bars......man, that is serious....

doesn't need paint, I'm telling you a little elbow grease and most of that will vanish, rubbing compound and buffer will do the trick, all that white stuff is from whatever she hit, underneath it the paint is fine

That light assembly looks tweaked too and has some other scratches around there. She needs to figure out that daily driving is not "bumper cars".

You would think at 43 she would have that figured out already.
Ever wind up behind someone who appears to be unable to choose a lane on a two-lane road?
There are already FAR too many licensed drivers who INSTINCTIVELY drive in two lanes at once by default.

Yes. And, she always asks why I look at them when I pass. She doesn't like when I say I want to see if they look as stupid as they drive.

In a strange way, she has a point.
Be grateful you managed to pass, at least some part of their brains is capable of enough reasoning and spatial awareness to let you pass.
An old and very dear friend of mine INSTINCTIVELY drives down two-lanes in both lanes at once.
She SAYS that if someone tried to pass, she'd TRY to allow them to pass her.
She'll always be a dear friend, but I wonder what her rate of failure to allowing a pass is.

If I ever wind up behind her minivan on the Interboro Parkway or the Williamsburg Bridge with my Tahoe,
I wonder where she'll successfully let me pass ... ?

Not the Bermuda Blue paint!!!
(I have the same color on my 05 Z71)

At least it wasn’t on a body line or fender … not that it makes it sting any less
