I would like to be prepared for winter ditch rescues with my Yukon XL SLT 4WD by creating a pull point on the front like my Silverado has.

Has anyone here put tow hooks on the front of their Yukon? Do they mount to the frame the same as a pickup?

Has anyone added a front receiver hitch?

How were your bumper covers modified to accommodate either one?

TIA

I installed the factory tow hooks on my 2019 Tahoe. Super quick and easy.
Mounts directly to the frame.
I bought the plastic thing that goes around that area with the cutout holes for the hooks, so that it’s all factory.

Nice. Thank you for the reply. I haven’t been able to find any mention in GMC’s literature that tow hooks were even an option. I will check Chevy’s info for part numbers and, hopefully, pictures.

Do a search on here, many people have added the tow hooks so long as you don't have adaptive cruise control radar box in the way.

Yes, I did find one thread where the member added tow hooks to an SLT, apparently without adaptive cruise, which I have.

Those members who have commented on his thread have pointed out that the fascia must be more than cut: it must be changed.

I had hoped that since that thread was written several years ago, that another member may have found an elegant solution. Nope.

It can be cut. I did mine, but I was also adding a pushbar so it’s hidden.

Thank you! I also read part of your build thread. Creative solutions.

Now that I can see that the factory hooks are quite recessed — a nice look actually — I think I’ll skip the tow hooks for now.

Under ideal conditions, I could get a strap hooked on the recessed hooks, but in the dark, with howling wind and two feet of snow to dig through, I anticipate frustration.

For now, I will run my D-ring receiver hitch insert. Although it is harder to see towing progress and not quite as low a gear ratio as reverse, at least it is a non-invasive solution and I don’t have to be concerned with breaking straps smashing through my windshield.

Thank you to everyone that replied.

They do make a plastic factory panel with a single cutout for 1 passenger side hook specifically for an application with adaptive cruise.

I don't think so unless they made a custom cutout.

Thank you for the picture. It looks nice. Looking at the factory options list, they did show the tow hooks as optional, so there must have been a bumper panel to allow for that.

I like that there seems to be a surround on the hook itself to help stop the high pressure salt water injection of winter driving.

I do have adaptive cruise, so I need to get my head under there and see if the sensors would be compromised.

Thank you everyone for your replies

Blaine is correct, you can order the panel with 1 or 2 cutouts to suit your application. I added the 2 front hooks and factory panel on my 2020 SLT.

The problem is - that rare panel you can order with 1 passenger side cutout, does NOT have the cutout recessed, which must make use of the factory tow hook an even worse experience! At least that is what I have seen when viewing the picture of the panel online. I have never seen one in person.

There is a gap around the tow hooks. I thought I saw some sort of a rubberized type of "filler" on some trucks but I don't have them. It is just an open hole, and I have not been able to find a part number if such a filler exists.

another member added these rough country shackles to his suv with a extension bracket he made
I put them on my silverado (what they are made for), they bolt up but on the suv's I believe you need to make a extension otherwise they are too short

Interesting. Seeing as the Tahoe and Silverado tow hooks are exactly the same part numbers, I wonder why an extension bracket is necessary when using the Rough Country D-ring brackets on a Tahoe?
I believe the bumper cover sticks out out more than on the trucks, more nose on them
the bumper on my silverado is metal for instance and on the suv's it is plastic

It is hard to say without a side by side measurement. They sure don't stick out very much on the SUVs, almost as if it was an "Afterthought" or they thought people would only be installing them for looks.
