On the part where the belt is gripping the pulley? The black "stuff" could be the inside of the pulley coming apart.

it can happen from wear or if the pulley is a tiny hair out of spec maybe if it does it's usually just from a outer edge of the belt, my alternator pulley has done that before if it is a lot it might be a concern but it's just a tiny bit I wouldn't worry about it.On the part where the belt is gripping the pulley?
Here’s a video I was waiting for it to upload.Yes, it can happen, but that also could be left over from the old belt. Best if you post pics here of what you are seeing.
I drove around all day today no issues. No overheating. It does spin freely. So long as the bearing spins freely, I would say NO. I looked at my old bearing, and it had a much thicker spacer. Probably goes with whatever bearing they decided to use in the pulley.
i thought changing the idler pulley fixed it. But it’s backYou need to switch it on or off when you hear the noise to see if the noise changes/goes away.
No change, it's probably something else.
Second easiest thing is to take the accessory belt off. That would eliminate idler pulleys, alternator, water pump, power steering as possible culprits.
Maybe try moving your phone to different areas and record away. Get some good tape..
This mentions the intake manifold stud being the culprit. I have not ever dabbled with an intake manifold.Found an article where someone has the same issue as me in a Lincoln mkz
Only article I’ve found where someone has the same issue as me
Inspected some shields. Can’t find a loose one or any thing making that noise.Still say is a shield of some sort.
Your intake manifold is plastic and on top of your motor. I have never heard of one rattling. If it was, you would have a myriad of codes. Also hear the intake manifold can rattle?
Nope. Not seeing any signs of wear from the starter in that photo.Anyone know if I can see the starter touching the flex plate through the inspection port?
