Installing "2021 PPV" style 6-Piston Brembo Front Brakes on a 2007 Yukon Denali

Good morning. Did you get the calipers with brackets? Those part numbers are calipers only, and I can't seem to find any brackets for them. Additionally, did you need adapters to mount to the 07 knuckles or were they direct bolt on?

This is a great project. Thanks for sharing it. My wife's 07 will need the brakes addressed this year, and I always look for upgrades rather than replacements.

Direct bolt on to the knuckle. You just need some washers as described in one of the early posts to space the caliper out a hair so it is centered around the rotor.

I've logged over 1000 trouble free miles on this setup now and could never go back.

Hi from my knowledge you’re using the 6 piston wrong rotor for that set up. I did the ppv calipers too but I order oem ppv rotors no one made them 1 year go when I did the swap. But now power stop makes them and raybestos and gm discontinued the #84865905. And the rotor you bought are for gm brembo 6 piston upgrade kit that use 16” rotor not the HEAVY DUTY ppv. The braking surface is different from 2.5” to the ppv rotor being 3” and how I know because I bought Dynamic Friction 604-47079 but to do the ctsvbrakeswap.com zr1 brake conversion and I compared both they are very similar. I’m sure you won’t have problem just that your pad probably over hanging and not making 100% contact.

I just did this with the same parts and you are 100% correct that the pads are deeper than the rotor face (annulus). The hang over into the angled center section of the rotor. GM is STILL out of rotors and there is no date when they will be available.

An update on the rotors. No idea if any of this is correct.

Power stop lists the 2022 PPV rotor as AR82209EVC
Their site links to rockauto, and I ordered 2 (listed as in stock), but the order was kicked back. I changed the order to select the GM rotors 84879622 as a replacement, which were listed as 3-day delay, but the order was cancelled and the part does not appear on rockauto anymore.

If you search ebay for GM 84879622, you may find a listing for 2021-2023 Chevy Tahoe PPV J55 front disc for the 6-piston caliper.

The picture in the listing does appear to be the larger surface area rotor without the pad overhang issue.

Summit does list them as orderable with about a week delay, so this part number must be present in the ordering system at GM, even if there is no real inventory yet.

With floating calipers, the simplest braking power improvement is larger diameter rotors and new caliper brackets to offset match, as Baer has done.

The challenge with the PPV fixed calipers is that the caliper cannot be easily relocated, so the rotor has to match. The real grief here is that the previous 16" rotor option is not able to accommodate the taller brake pad required by these monstrous new calipers.

but these are plug n play with no modifications other than a simple washer, the baer rotors come with a bracket adapter. so not quite understanding why these would not work, given the extra size of the baer rotor as it is there is a easy 1inch or more of un-used rotor surface so plenty of room for the larger pads

For one, there isn't an extra 1inch of unused rotor surface on the baer rotor. Even a visual estimate shows that the pad surface diameter is smaller than the 3" register in the center.

Second, a 15" rotor cannot substitute for a 16".

I was apparently confused about the product being referenced, I thought this was the oem 4 piston which does not require a 16" rotor
other than that I have the 15" baer rotors on my truck (with the adapter & stock calipers and there is about a inch or so of rotor diameter that is not touched by the pad, near the inner hat, the oem rotors are 13"

Would love to see some 60-0 stops and see what the difference is. Our trucks new were in the 130-140 foot range.

According to MSP's 2023 tests, around 127ft. It was only beat out by the Mach-E mustang.

Towed a small Bobcat skid steer (~5000lbs w/ trailer) with no trailer brakes and braking was completely adequate. I did have to grease up the pad slides a month ago as it developed a slight squeak but all good otherwise/since.

Also changed the wheels again and these OEM 2020~ Yukon 20" wheels clear just fine as well.

If they're the 20" silver with argent pocket (I forget the model code) they'll fit just fine as they have the same depth/offset as the steelies

I did this swap over the weekend. As far as major upgrades, this was as easy as it gets. My only difficulty was getting the old banjo bolt out of the line... Someone had jammed the wrong size crush washer in there, and took me a while to get the bolt out...

Two questions for the guys who have done it. Have you noticed the brake line extending to almost maximum stretch when you turn the wheel to full lock? Has anyone run the stock 2007 Escalade wheels with these brakes? Looks like it clears by maybe 1/16" of an inch from the spokes.

Thanks for the heads up on the brake line stretch, I didn't think to check that.

My 2011 Yukon Denali factory 20" seven spokes (similar to those esky wheels) had at least 1/16" clearance on the test fit. Unfortunately, I didn't account for spacing the caliper to center on the rotor, which of course caused contact with the wheel, so I need to order some spacers.

Brief update: The '07 Escalade wheels clear the calipers by the skin of their teeth, even with the centering spacers (probably 1/16" or less.) At some point I might get the later model wheels, but for now, they work.

I'll keep monitoring the hoses and report if I notice anything.

I've driven over 1000 miles with this setup with no issues. Stock 07 Escalade. The only issue I have is the PowerStop pads create a ton of dust. I am looking to swap those out to some EBC Yellows when I do the C7 calipers for the rear

Gathering parts for this swap right now, has anyone upgraded master cylinder with this kit? I am a bit concerned about fluid flow/ quantity with upgrading to six piston. If so what Master cylinder did you use? Also is hydroboost a possibility? I have seen mixed reviews. Currently running a cam and procharger so I am a bit concerned with vacuum.
