Felt early signs of trans slipping kid you not like 20 min ago so i feel like its time to prepare for when the time comes lmao. Tahoe Steve on Youtube has already posted a pretty good guide to give me an idea and i'll post the link for anyone who hasn't seen and ngl seems like a lot of work. But My question is since mine is basically a suburban can i take basically everything ( Driveshaft, Trans, transfer case input shaft, etc ) from a 2500 4x4 GMC/CHEVY? and everything be full proof?

To answer the other solution questions.....

Buying a 2500 is out of the question for sake of work, time and finding the right one thats optioned out like the one i already own also CA isn't very 4x4 2500 friendly there is like 2-3 out of 10 in my searches if that makes sense and if they're clean i'd need 10k laying around
Also would like to add more Tq in the future
And I've heard too many good things about the 4L80 being bulletproof so i feel like the work would pay for itself i just can't have it down for too long since its my work vehicle

Thanks in advance

4l80e isn’t bulletproof , I would do a trans filter and flush first usually that clears up most shudders and slippage or Atleast delays a rebuild/swap. For the sake of simplicity you’re probably better off building a 4l60e for power and leaving the power stock my l/n/r clutches are going out and when it comes time I’m just rebuilding the transmission with a “500 hp” kit and leaving the engine alone another failure point is the valve body and electronics, if you have a ABS light or your speedometer isn’t accurate I’d fix that before jumping into any major transmission work as the transmission shifts based off rpm and speed and if you do a rebuild do a corvette shift servo.

I’d be willing to bet you can do a lot better for that amount of money locally or match the Jegs 4L60e specs for like $400-500 less when you factor in Jegs freight shipping. If you want specifics, I’ll spec it out…meanwhile check below for some ideas…

Is your truck’s engine stock or mostly stock? Is is used for any serious duty towing/hauling/working/off-road? How much power (approximately) will you be adding to the engine? If going north of 650 hp, id do an 80 swap with a billet rollerized fwd hub and rollerized output shaft.

But if keeping it around 500-550hp or so, building a 60 using 4L65 parts (planets and forward drum from a ‘65E) with a good shift kit, Sonnax Smart shell and boost valve kit, 4l70e reaction shaft, wide Alto red or kevlar band, delete 4th accumulator, pinless accs in 1-2 and forward, and either Vette or billet servo for second gear is sufficient.

The shops around me won’t rebuild a transmission just drop and swap besides flywheel/clutch or fluid filter / rear main seal or pan gasket and automatic transmission rebuilding is a little above my expertise there’s a place up here that does transmission rebuilds i guess but haven’t heard anything positive
