Its back!!!!!

man...either I forgot how it felt to drive it or its been hurt for far too long. Man its drives SO GOOD now! Theres tons of power, super smooth and the trans shifts are excellent! Very happy with the work that was done.

For anyone curious, a summarized list is 3 bolt 6.2L cam, ls7 lifters and trays, oil galley plugs, solid timing tensioner with GM HD chain, new oil pump and pickup tube o-ring, LS3 front cover, head gaskets, head bolts, all front accessory gaskets, VVT to NonVVT harness, and tuned for 86/e85. 2-3.5k rpm pulls really good in it now. It cruised smoothly on the highway and the trans wasnt freaking out when going up hills trying to find a gear to use. Super pleased with it all.

i did keep waiting for the tach to dip the 100-200 rpm when it would go into DoD mode but that never happened, and it never will anymore. excellent!

Do you know if he still has it and is doing anything with it? I'd hoped he'd be on GMSB and continue supplying updates on the ol' girl but that never happened :(

Nah I pretty much lost touch with him after a year or two after he got it. I texted him last spring saying I want my Knight Rider light bar back LOL. He said some friend of his had it as a family hauler at the time.

Ahhh, ok. So a kid bought it then disappeared?

Here he is loading my baby onto his trailer. Being towed by a Ford which was a double kick in the nuts. It had a rust hole in the frame that wouldn't pass PA inspection and I came across the Tahoe and then I showed up here. Aren't you lucky? :anitoof: I still miss that thing so bad. So damn comfy and an awesome cruiser.

I learned this a long time ago while comparing late 70’s trucks. GM was a decade ahead of the other two tech wise.

This 07 feels like something from the 90s, but with some modern sensors like the MAP sensor looks pretty recent.
even my 03 s10 doesn't have an egr, but this thing does...

and pulling the tune and comparing it to something like my s10, it reminds me of a tune from the 90s.
The only thing it really has going for it is 3 or 4 different timing tables related to how much gas pedal your giving it. :jester:

And the transmission seems to be mostly mechanical, with an electronic overdrive.
Very 90's

I'm still pretty new at this thing, so I might have some details wrong.
just my early assessment of the thing.
