Took to the dealer to have the headlight issue fixed and an oil change done. Happy they filled the DEF too, makes life simpler.

While waiting to talk with the service manager, noticed the left headlight assembly rubbing paint away from the fender due to there being no gap space. So going back to the dealership in 2 weeks to discuss best option with their body/paint guy

How much did they charge for the DEF? From another thread on the bumper issue it sounds like the problem will return after the repair / re-spray..

My bumper issue is with the headlamp/fender.. not the bumper/fender which I believe is in a different thread.

This was my "complimentary" oil change / 27pt inspection that they give you for the first time. So I'm not sure how much they would typically charge for DEF, it was all $0 on the invoice. Have 4100 miles on her since July. wanted to change the oil myself between 1-2k for the first time, but time has not been in my favor

Drove back from west to east to, cruise was set around 76/77 for half the trip. Random lane closures and backups caused some delay, but overall very happy with the straight freeway results with the babymax.

Overall 22.6 mpg on the 470 mile trip that had a portion of backroads on the way out due to construction and waze routings.

Took the badges off on Saturday and gave it a detail on Sunday. First vehicle of ours I’ve washed and waxed in 8ish years… what a huge vehicle lol. And an fyi to everyone thinking of rebadging; the rubber adhesive wheels work great BUT be very careful. The paint on our hatch was super thin and as soon as I hit the adhesive a chunk of paint came off with it, see the last pic. It was the last one too. So I have more of a reason to get the grill and chrome trim painted black.View attachment 369458View attachment 369461View attachment 369462View attachment 369460
Just had a similar experience removing the letters on my lift gate. The paint is thin and fragile. It happened where the “O” goes. Luckily I can touch it up and cover it by moving things up a little when I put the black badges on. First time experience for me after debadging and rebadging many cars. Argh!

Plastidip is cheaper and easier to change color on the badges. Wish I would have did that on my Tahoe and saved $300.

I decided to go with new black badges to get the high gloss look. Dip is typically more of a matte or satin look.

With that being said, if I had known how fragile the paint is I would have tried hyper dip piano black. For comparison of paint hardness/durability, I had to be more aggressive to remove adhesive when I removed a spoiler on my 6 yr old Ford and it’s paint barely needed light buffing when I was finished. Not sure if it’s due to todays water based paints being less durable, thinner or??

Today I got back from Hot Rod Drag Week. Towed my little Chevy II out to St Louis, the Tahoe sat from Sunday to Friday at that strip, drove the red car and raced at 4 different tracks, best ET was 10.06 up in Cordova. Fun trip. The last day of racing was rained out. They used the results from four days of racing to figure the winners, I got 3rd in A/Gas class.

The Tahoe did fine, it started the trip with 2000 miles on it (exactly), ended with 5043. The DIC says it got 13.6 mpg average. We drove 75 most of the way.

Very respectable mpg imo.

Looks like you need a bigger drop hitch.

Yes, I have a WD hitch on it, set at it's lowest setting. This trailer is really low, and it worked fine with all the older trucks, but this new Tahoe has the receiver pretty far off the ground.

I'm going to hook up our 1972 Airstream Safari this week, and see how it sits...we're going on a short weekend trip and camping a couple days. I'll try to report on that as well. I expect the mileage will be worse, but it will be such a short trip I might not get an accurate account of it (my wife will be towing, I'll be driving my 59 Rambler or something).

So I pulled the trigger and finally ordered some 8 piston Brembo brakes. I went with the GT series B-M8's. I'm also having them color matched by Brembo to match my Redwood Metallic paint. I also ordered a pair of rear cross drilled rotors to match the front, except they won't be a two-piece set. And of course, some performance pads for the rear. The cost was substantial, but I'm sure I'll be happy with the end result when they arrive later next month.

Next on my to-do list is get a tire for my spare rim, and have it mounted and balanced in case I get a flat at some point. I haven't powder coated it black, so it still has the original polished finish.

Replaced chrome front door Tahoe letters and High Country fender badges with gloss black ones.

Also adjusted the drivers fender to reduce the gap between it and the hood. It was originally off by at least 1/8”

Part one of my Brembo order came in today. These are the rear rotors for my 22' AT4. The next shipment should be my front rotors. And the front calipers are due to arrive at the end of October.

Oh, and I washed and detailed her this morning. I used Meguire's tire gel this time. I've used it 100% in years past but this time I have offroad tires, so it "slung" black droplets on the sides of the body. After I applied it, I drove it 30 miles and was able to just wipe it off with a damp microfiber towel.

Try Chemical Guys VRP for the tires as it won't sling any goop

I put the SportWing body molding on the sides last week. They're painted to match the body color. I also installed the pedal monster (so fun to drive now) and tinted the front two windows. I had the Nitto Recon Grapplers put on about a week ago with new wheels and a 2" level. Today I just gave it a light detail.

That looks really cool! I’d black out the name plates too
