And that's "if" you can do maintenance on them.

Unless EVs are able to get 800+ miles of range, I'm not going to consider them a replacement for ICE vehicles. The cost difference between charging at home and on the road is too significant.
In cold weather a full charge on one of those batteries could only get to 70-80%, so the range diminishes with age and weather conditions.

Tesla's don't even get you to 400. And when you're cruising on the highway at 60+ the range drop off is significant. And I'm pretty sure any of the big manufacturer's are playing catchup to them....so their range wont be at where Tesla is now, given it took Tesla this long to get their range to this level.

Making overtures and virtue signaling doesn’t get it done. They very well could switch course as soon as there is a change in government control. General Motors didn’t become Greenpeace Motors overnight. They are following the dollars and looking for a kickback. Nothing more.

^^This. Same with our electric and natural gas providers. They get a guaranteed rate of return and we fund their mandated changes, none of which benefits the consumer.

This is GM's second attempt at an electric vehicle, the first was called the EV1 during the 80-90s. Pressure from the oil companies caused GM to cancel the program. The electric vehicle would be so much further along today. There is a documentary about it called "Who killed the electric car".

Gas was never that cheap near me in 2016. What state was that in?
Also--I don't understand how fuel that was already in the gas station tanks overnight, can be raised to the new raised prices when it was already purchased at the previous lower price.
Just greed.
Central Minnesota. This was early spring the cost went up in the summer. The price of gas was much higher years prior to this. I took this picture figuring it would never get this cheap again.

I would love to have an EV. Tesla specifically. I don't want to go in debt though. Easier to just pay the extra gas money

Thats the thing. I could drive for two weeks on a charge. I just cant swing the cost of one.
opposite with me, im minimum 125miles a day and 3-400 miles once or twice a week is pretty normal. it would just be too close to the edge of feasible to use it everyday. and at the same time racking up 40k miles a year would make it worthless in a few years. it would need to be on the charger every single night.
i was looking at teslas a couple months ago price is expensive, but relative, as mentioned this is the 2021+ thread of people who just spend 70k minimum on a truck. it was mostly to replace my plug in hybrid ford and was willing to spend money to be comfortable.
<<<<<this car i love, a nicely optioned tesla wouldnt have been much more money but zero regrets at the moment. and i'll keep my plug in hybrid another couple years so long as it gets down the road, im good with knowing when i want to go out in something nice, something fun, something elegant its at home waiting
also im a huge advocate for EVs, 95% of people that drive +/- 50 miles a day to get back and forth to work for 50 weeks out of the year, and dont give a shit what they drive anyway, its dumbfounding why people resist it so much. never having to stop a gas station would be worth it alone

Lucid or bust

Real proven range. Tesla gets much less than advertised range.

But no. Ha this is comical. Spend 85k n be sad about some extra cash at the pump

I want a Tesla because they are freaking awesome. The gas thing will be a bonus. Hoping I don't have to replace any of the vehicles anytime soon. They're all paid for and no payment is a nice change

That last section is huge for me. I hate having to stop for gas, adding to my already long, hour drive home. Add in no oil changes and it sweetens the deal even more. Ev of 5-10 years ago is not in the same ballpark as today. I'm very pro electric myself.

no oil changes, air filters, belts, hoses, spark plugs, coils, brake pad changes are extended way out as they use regen to slow down 90% of the time, hard hard braking uses the pads
