Its sad. Where were these benefits when I was 18?
No $hit. I could see them offering you $1,300 if you had at least a years worth of college.
I know it was rare for the military to offer sign on bonuses for guys joining the prior to Sep 11th (which is my anniversary by the way). After that the money was flowing in! Much more likely to hand out, but now I can only imagine what it must be like for some lonely ass recruiter…let alone new guys joining and dealing with all the rule changes resulting from covid and mixed gender training.
*mixed gender as in Male and Female recruits training together, not mixed gender as in confused whether you stand or sit down to pee.

The local Applebee’s was offering new employees “free 1 year college tuition”. I don’t even think college or $1,300 will entice kids to work these days.
More and more companies are offering tuition assistance for their hourly workers. I think it is a really smart investment.

I worked for IBM way back when, the VA had paid for my undergraduate and IBM paid for grad school. I never had a loan of any kind until my first house.

Maybe the student loan problem gets addressed by corporate America, that would be nice to see. Of course, somebody won’t like it, too much meritocracy in that outcome. ;)

Thats awesome. I'm using my GI Bill to finish BS'ing my way through my undergrad in Cyber Security Management & Policy. Once I'm done with my BS, I will have enough left over to complete about 80% of my Masters program

My children have been raking it in, working two and three jobs, they were hired over the phone in one instance! Then they hear of another opportunity making more and take that one. Our youngest is saving for her own 6.2 Sierra and she's sixteen.
That's kicka$$. Motivated, kids and young adults can be banking some serious loot right now. Once all of that free government money goes away those lazy ****** are going to be in a world of hurt

Reminds me of when I was in high school Jr and Sr years I was working 80hrs a week. A local job, then a executive cleaning business (banks/office suites) and finally was a cleaning business that was doing crime scene clean ups (nice prep for combat i must say LOL)

"Is this available?"...

Yeah. That's something else I don't get. When I respond to an ad, I treat it as if it's still for sale. I mean, it's advertised as if it's for sale, right? I never send the default "Is this available?" message. I erase it and get right to the point, asking the TWO most pertinent questions. I can't ask more than that because their ADD takes over and you'd be lucky if they even answer one of the questions. If you ask one at a time, they get pissy because they "aint got time 2 b playn 1000 questns".

Then there are the ones that put in the ad "DO NOT ASK IF IT'S AVAILABLE I WILL NOT RESPOND" and "IF IT'S POSTED IT'S AVAILABLE". Okay- sounds like my kinda seller. So I get right down to business and ask when and where they can meet. Their usual response: "Yes, it's available". :emotions122:

I swear I'm dealing with a toddler that has their daddy's phone to watch TikToks and my Marketplace replies are interrupting them.
I used to write in complete sentences with proper grammar, you know, how we were taught in school decades ago and would get no reply. So for the last ten years or so, I write in ebonics or whatever they call it today and get a response.

That’s great and great choice on major. Definitely keep going if you can swing it, grad school got easier for me. Undergrad was a lot of work! ;)

When we were kids, my friends and I all had two or three jobs at a time, drill on weekends and we still played hard together. I don't think we slept though! Our girls work their tails off but they sleep and that's been hard for me to get used to! LOL I'm like c'mon, the day is half over (it's 8 am Sunday) and then my wife yells at me to let them alone! LOL
