I’m just doing a simple battery swap in the Silverado. The tender tried to save the Super Start that’s in it but it didn’t work, so I’m going with an Interstate AGM. This is a bit harder than most trucks I would say.

Gonna change the cam, since you’re there.

Ordered a new spare tire hoist. Damn thing stuck and the secondary latch wouldn’t let the tire down. Apparently that is a thing, and the replacement is designed differently.

Fortunately this was discovered at home in the garage and not roadside somewhere.

Link to what you bought? I need the winch, the guide tube and the insert tool to winch it.

I couldn't get the spare out any other way. Thank God I was home. That damn secondary latch is always the problem.

I just pried it open with a big screwdriver and left it bent to the side. I haven't needed to drop it since I messed with it, but at the time after doing this it would drop and release with 0 issues.

Well...already did that. Vinci cam, dual springs, hardened pushrods, vitron seals. Thinking about doing the second set of mini H1’s since the headlights are easier to remove with no bumper. Waiting on a second set of demon eyes to be delivered, supposed to be here Tuesday. Already have the rest of the parts.

Id relocate that to under the bed or something. Just make sure you run some leads out to an accessible place if the battery takes a shit, so you can power the compressor/valves

My dream one day is to go through my s10 and turn it into a little dedicated trail rig.

I'm also looking at my 5.3 block and thinking how much better that s10 would be with that installed.

It would need a different reluctor wheel than my gen 4 has anyways...
And then i need to rebuild the transmission anyways, so it's a good time to dump the v6 crap, add more clutch disks etc.

Then i remember how broke i am because of the hoe project.

:greenchainsaw:

It's so pretty, smells like a leather coat store...

Wait, what was i talking about?

s10 needs 5.3. For. Sure

Wonder if it can be modded to bypass those locks. Cut the hooks off or something.

No thanks, it’s fine where it is. Battery tender is wired in to the main fuse on the firewall, and that’s where it would get jumped if it ever needs it. I can reach the posts from above when I need to disconnect it. Now under the bed? That’s a place that’s completely inaccessible when it’s aired out unless I could fit it at the very back next to the tailgate which is where the fuel cell is (no thanks) and I wouldn’t be able to disconnect it unless I aired it up , put it on jackstands, and climbed under it. With this truck, everything has been relocated to where it is for a reason.

I got the new Interstate AGM after they had to drive it across town for me since the local dealer didn’t have one. I bought a new negative cable to replace the POS one it had and a new positive terminal but that one fits in a different direction than the one that’s on it which makes the positive cable too short. I’ll get a new cable tomorrow. Dicks couldn’t get the damn label on straight.

It's only the 1 hook. I'm sure you can get it off with no problems.

So this link you sent me there are NO safety hooks. @Tonyrodz check it out.
Must be the updated design. I heard they did away with it because of all the problems people were having with it.

I hate when the labels are crooked. My pushbar had one that was off about the same angle. Out came the decal remover.

The twins have different designs. Thecopcar is older and has the secondary latch. Theothertwin doesn’t.

I built this truck about 15 years ago. Battery is under the bed, jumpers are ran down low in the wheel tub

Dicked around with "harmless" changes to the tune. Changed the TCC apply/release speeds, mainly to restore lockup in third, as advised by @pwtr02ss. I just copy/pasted my factory tune stuff for that one table. I don't know why, but the "clutch dump" feeling when the TCC locks in OD is gone or much less pronounced. I may lower the release TP%, though. Also tweaked the tire circumference 2.5% to alter the speedo. I need to get a cop to radar me one day. Or drive next to a Civic or some other car that has a giant digital speedometer that I can read.

Lots of free cell phone speed apps.
I used one to see the top speed of my boat, took an old cell phone and used tape to strap it to an rc car to see the top speed, and always fun to see how fast you're going while on an airplane.

;)

I've tried a few and all read 1.5-2 MPH slower than what my speedometer reads. I only bothered in the first place cuz I've noticed that everyone is always pulling away from me even when I have my cruise set dead nuts at 80. Before my tune, cruising at 80 had me steady with the flow of traffic. I just assumed the tuner uploaded an incorrect circumference based off my tire's advertised measurements on the sidewall. I measured it with a wire and the difference was 18mm. I corrected it and it seemed to make it worse. So, today, I changed the number 2.5%. The damned app STILL reads 1.5-2 MPH slow.
