I've seen videos where people don't use shit to hold the belt or pulley, just a wrench hit with hammer and there done.

I did the same but didn't work at alI, then i noticed there were a couple of holes in the water pump pulley. "This is were the hours glass starts to spin in my head". I got a coat hanger ran it through the pump and wrapped it around the alternator, got a wrench with a jack handle on it whacked it with a hammer and got it to break loose.

To the left/passenger side of vehicle to loosen it
