I love driving The Beast in the snow. AWD does prove itself in the white stuff. Next most fun is in sand at the beach. AWD rooster tails FTW.
When I was shopping for trucks last time I passed on a 13 Yukon XL Denali with the 6.2 and AWD in diamond tricoat. I was reading about it and got spooked by people having trouble getting stuck off road in the snow due to the traction control. I didn’t know you could disable it. I have kicked myself more than a few times for passing on that truck.

Yeah my 02 is old school AWD- no electronics at all. No TC. It’s all mechanical and it just works. I’m not sure why they went away from that.

there is a section of curb I sometimes drive over as a shortcut and it freaks the traction control out I will have to try it one of these days with the traction control turned off and see what it does, with the traction control on it makes it hesitate and take baby steps it's kind of funny but then she goes. I went to go order the torque converter yesterday but the boss was out of the office so going again today so it can be here when they dig into this thing.

My wife was riding with me last night and I was in 2wd for a while. She noted the traction control engaging and stopping the truck from sliding. She was impressed and said “wow, thats pretty nice. I feel safe”. I agree that it works well for what it does but I prefer to turn it off at times so I have more control. I guess I like her feeling safe too.

Man no amount of money will ever get me to do any work on a c4 corvette ever again. I redid the entire brake system on a 93 and a hard top since the vert top was shot. That lt1/4 is *****. The l89 was a better design. Got it running and sold it. Had a ZF too.

My C4 has the L83, slow pos stock. lol
rated at something like 205hp
Apparently that was actually pretty good for the time though.

Has the early Z51 suspension, designed for a race track and "whoops" after thought about it being used on the street.
(harsh)

My entire brake system has been redone, mostly because it looks cooler with the later thin spoke wheels and large rotors and massive calipers.
Oh and the fact that the early brake pads availability sucks balls...

I have somewhere around 350hp now.
3200rpm stall converter, my brake system rocks
Has banski suspension struts and delrin bushings in the front, i had a custom set of delrin bushings made for the rack.
(Full rubber bushing delete)
Rack was rebuilt by turn one (gut and sleeved), 2.0 fast ratio.

Long tube headers were installed due to some issues i had with the new heads, massive exhaust ports... needed headers to work correctly.
Ended up with a full 3in exhaust system with an X-pipe...
Flow master 40's
Drone was so bad at 3k RPM, ended up with a second x-pipe, that toned it down a bit... lol

I love the way the car turned out, it's an event to drive.
Screams like a Ferrari, shifts F1 car fast.
Setup to do manual shifts, instant reaction to the shift lever.

Downshifts, i have to do a little rev matching.
Pretty fun.
Throttle response is quick, have a vac ref pressure regulator to help with that along with a tiny lil converter...

Handles fantastic, i do dread those pot holes though...
Car is also lowered, so i tread carefully around dips and speed bumps. :D

One of the easiest cars i have ever worked on. :boti:
Hands down, my favorite Vette is the C4.

Pfft. I was in process of getting out of that damned storage. But, with all my projects I have lined up, my shop has become a laydown yard for the project materials. Now it's full of materials and no space to actually work on the projects. So now I'm stashing a bunch of crap in storage and keeping just what I need for one project at a time.

I swore off a storage unit for years, but too many projects and the hoe needing some work.
I broke down and finally got a unit.

I feel so free now... lol

Motivation to get a nice shed or two built on my property...
Too may projects pending.
One day. :D

What was wrong with your brake lines- did they rust out? We don’t have rust issues here so mine still look like new.
Of course they did and in the middle of fixing it the truck spontaneously caught fire when my wife and I went to do a target run. That’s the only reason I don’t have it anymore.

when my wife and i bought a house, both of our parents dropped off all of our child hood storage stuff.
So hard to let go... :jester:

Probably going to end up with a shed dedicated to that crap.
And another for parts and general crap.

And my big dream.
A backyard garage.

I have a spot for it... the dream. :D

Right now my two car garage has one side dedicated to tools and smaller projects.
Other side can house what ever larger project gets the spot...

What i would love from the backyard garage, park the vette in it.
Park the Boat.

and still have space for projects and to be my man cave. :pimp:

More power to you. I did all my work and that abs module and brake line junction setup behind the drivers seat is a cluster ****. I’ll never do it again.

yes the L83. The tpi version. Not prone to the Optispark mess on the lt1/4.

It was too tight and annoying to work on. Needed so much. I inherited it and tried so hard to make it work. Couldn’t do it. Needed everything. Got what I put into back when I sold it tho. So it was a good experience and broke even. Never again tho. My fave is the c2 followed by the c5/6.
