What did you do to your NNBS GMT900 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Welp, getting to the other head.
It came off with a broken exhaust bolt.
Already broken long ago etc.

Well i decided i was going to drill out he middle, and try using an "Easy Out"

Well that easy out is now broken, and stuck in there.

Spent some time trying to get it out, decided I'm making it way worse than it was.

I have two options at this point,
Reinstall with the broken bolt missing.
Find a machine shop that's willing and has time to remove it.
Or replace the head...

Get a mobile mechanic with a welder to get it out, he'll weld something onto the remnants and the heat will loosen it enough to pull right out. Best part is, you can watch Rawhide or Bonanza while he does it.

Do these aluminum heads have helicoils for all the bolt threads or just threads in the aluminum?

Just threaded aluminum, should have had helicoils. Already planned to that to mine when the day comes.
The Edelbrock aluminum heads I have on my mustang have helicoiled threads. They're pretty old heads (early 2000's), so figured it'd be a standard thing by now.... Lol

You can drop a nut over that easy out and weld the whole shebang together by filling the inside of the nut ( it won’t stick to the aluminum like mentioned) or have a welder do it, and then put a wrench on the nut to remove it. Use ARP’s exhaust manifold bolts for reassembly so you’ll never break another one.

Honestly, I would got to welding a nut before I went to the easy-out. Only easy 50% of the time, seems the other 50% they break.

One of my dreams is to buy a tig or mig welder (leaning towards tig for aluminum projects).

And i have an appointment with my local handy man later today.
I had him weld up a tear on the bottom of an aluminum boat project a few years ago.
He has been my go-to for other welding projects since then.

I had to do a little digging to find him since he apparently moved a few years ago...

Been planning to hire him to get me started welding eventually.

I have a mig welder. It can do aluminum if I bought an aluminum spool gun for it. Aluminum wire is too soft to feed correctly down the entire line to the gun, so they make guns with a spool attached to feed the wire.

Tig is nicer, more precision and control though.
