Houston...we may have a problem. As I mentioned previously, the vehicle has not felt rough (other than the harmonic balancer) especially with regards to the trans. Currently there are zero shift issues nor have there been any in the past. BUT...as most of us suspected after seeing the beautiful color removed from the trans pan, in addition to it being heavy on the overfill side of things.

“Hey do you need any help workin on your Denali?”
“NO! Thanks anyways. Never again.”

Anyways...little bit heavier on the chunky side than I had hoped. Fingers crossed that I won’t need to drop the whole damn thing and do a rebuild. Because we all know that if your trans needs rebuilt, add a new TCase to that rebuild cost.

I was hoping the magnet was broken, but I didn’t get that lucky. Some of it could be from the housing and/or rough edges of the solenoid. Not all of it though.

Yikes!

Not sure why you think the TCase needs rebuilt or replaced just because you pull the transmission. On your Denali, they are completely separate units with no fluid exchanged between them. I replaced the transmission on my 2007 Denalit at 150K and the transfer case wasn't replaced until 262K.

It’s a running joke with some of the old transmission mechanics. A lot of the time with the 4l60 trannys the shops would do a TCase replacement as well. On my 02’ it wasn’t an issue, so I’m thinking maybe it was more an issue with the pick-ups (Silverado, Sierra).

Man all that stuff makes me and my poor old wallet nervous and with the added when is my afm gonna go. Im just over 130k now and its been a great hoe so far minus the darn rust ughhh.
I did the VLOM swap and replaced the valley pan for the upgraded one, along with the oil pickup and haven’t had any AFM issues.

Are you going to do a full cam swap if it ever comes down to and AMF failure?

Got my mirrors cleaned em and tested them and amazing!! Need some heat in the air to put them on though. Soooo cold here.

I can’t seem to find a set of paint matched handles and really don’t want to paint them. I have an idea though and want some input. I was wondering if the center of the handles are the same on all handles? To me it looks it and the main body of it houses the unlatching mechanism. I’m waiting for a single handle to show up and test but want some input before I dismantle it and mine to make one paint matched handle.

received the new GMC airbag/horn cover, it scratched just taking the protective plastic off, so junk IMO. not going to waste my time to replace a scratched one with a scratched one.

Well I got bored and put my mirrors on. Quite happy they both fold quietly and looks brand new but aren’t. Also I gained a cool feature in the process. Auto darken like the rear view. My mirror previously didn’t have that. My Holden does and love it so I’m happy I got it.

Where did these new ones come from? Are you able to order them color matched or do they just come in flat black and/or chrome like most others do?

They were off an 07 avalanche z71. They matched the z71 package I have so they fit the bill. Not paint color matched tho. I found brand new paint color matched gm NOS and they want 400 each. I paid half for both. Only thing wrong is the puddle lamp on driver side. I’ll figure it out when it gets warm. Only reason I changed them is the right was already replaced with craptastic chrome and still broken. The left is original but making all sorts of noises when folding and didn’t want to be without a mirror so I swapped the pair.

You can cannibalize your old set to fix your new set--puddle light.
