I might have found a gem that is about 1/2 mile from my American Legion post

That's just it, it is not $7800. It is my offer of $7700 and the wife wants to take it but he is at $8k. I will let the wife stew and work on him. She sees the value of all that I am offering. Maybe some here don't but it is my choice, just like if one of you were in my shoes. I would not want to tell any of you that you are making a bad deal or even talk you in to buying at a higher price than you feel it should be. I guess my perception of value can be different than others here but that is just me. None of the things you guys say about just pay the bigger price bothers me because that is your opinion and I appreciate that but I am going to do what I am going to do. As I offered earlier, if the threads of mine about what I am bidding on drive some of you crazy, I will stop and just post when I do actually buy, or pay attention to the thread title and don't open it for fear of another time you would have to tell me how to buy. :D
It’s your deal Ron. It’s only worth what you are willing to pay.

Jeez, Ron. Nobody's telling you how to buy. If youre going to have threads about your negotiations, then expect some input, thats all.

Its your deal. All day. I was simply agreeing with and adding to Chris's perspective. You said the lady was at 7900. You're at 7700. Its a nice truck. In my world, I meet her at 7800 and get it done. You're already halfway there with the $50 legion dues.

I've had deals run away from me over less than $200 before, and I have kicked myself in the ass every time for not playing the game with my priority to buy the truck. If your priority is to save 100, so be it. If your priority is to secure a nice nbs specimen, then spend the extra 100.

My $0.02, nothing more.

I must have stated my opinion wrong. I know no one here is "telling me how to buy" and I never took it that way. We all reach out for opinions and that is what you and others were offering. I want and need your guys input and that is why I reacted to each. I welcome that input. I do. I am also being up front about my opinions and how I will move forward.

Right now we are actually $300 apart. The wife is willing to accept my offer of $7700 and the offer of info when needed and the 1/2 price labor and the membership. He is at $8k. So actually he is $300 away from me and his own wife. That is between them but also me. Hell, I may offer $7800 tomorrow, who knows. Or I may sleep like a baby and miss this rig and move on to the next.

Nate, please don't take me wrong, I do appreciate opinions at all times. Gonna do what I am gonna do though, as I would expect you to do.

Myself, it comes down to splitting the difference. When I’m selling something, if the buyer won’t meet me halfway then I’m out. It becomes a matter of principle. I would have quit jerking the guy around a long time ago and met him in the middle at 7850. It’s not worth it to me to miss out on a rig I want, there aren’t an unlimited number of these that I would want to buy. Most have too many negatives for me to even consider. If I was that guy, I wouldn’t even consider selling to somebody that makes one offer and won’t budge, just like you won’t consider it if he won’t budge. It’s now not a matter of money, it’s a matter of stubbornness. I highly doubt he will budge if you don’t. Couple of stubborn dudes lol. Looking forward to the next thread where you don’t buy a truck LMAO! o_O

Me too!

By the way, my first offer was $7500 yesterday. I went up $200 today to $7700 and offered the $50 membership at the American Legion. That means I did go half way, IMO. He was not budging but his wife was. If he would say that he wants the $7750 and no membership, I will do it but he is trenched in at $8k. And yes, I am very stubborn.

Ok, he texted me and said his friend is going to buy it for $8k. Where was the friend 13 weeks ago, I wonder? I am likely wrong but I think he will believe that I will come up more and will contact him tomorrow to try and buy it at a higher price and then he will tell me his friend changed his mind and he is glad I called him again. Hell, I don't know what to expect now but I am about to close my office and I am gonna go watch some recorded shows and settle in for the night. Got a labor job to do in the morning at 8 am.

I wonder why he is sticking to $8k so hard. If it is pure stubbornness, I guess you are walking away. If there is some other reason, and you are still interested, there may be negotiating room. Good luck, in any case.

I will wait it out at this point. My opinion of the worth is as strong as his opinion of the value. Gotta draw the line somewhere. I will keep looking for the right deal and may have to wait till used vehicle prices come down.

“Thanks for the update and good luck with the sale. I appreciate you showing me the truck. Have a good week.”

Seems to be a bit of drama with that seller. Like mixing money with family, some things are probably just best to walk away from.

He’s not going to sell it to you, sorry to say. No budging on either end, I can guarantee he’s done dealing with stubbornness. Now if you had offered a compromise, it would have been yours a long time ago. Too bad. Stubborn brings out stubborn. It’s the art of compromise that’s missing here. You won’t budge so he won’t budge. A matter of principle. You’re supposed to offer a lower price than you’re willing to pay so you can meet in the middle. Next.

Seems to me my friend that the right deal is more important than the right truck! I can see why, you're already driving a great one! :driver:

I agree with the others, there is NO WAY I’d lose the right truck over a piddly $300. These trucks are not easy to find any more in good shape, it was hard enough for me to find my 08 and 12. There’s also no way I’d walk away from a 130k mile truck to go look at one with 230k that probably has as much wrong with it as the difference in cost for the 130k truck.

Is it just me, or is 8k, or even 7700 too much anyway? I know it’s got nice low miles, and is in pretty good condition, but to me, that’s still too much! But if you really do want it, I’d go for it. The second one you posted isn’t even in the same league..

I know the second one is rough and would need work and has gobs of miles on it. He will only drop to $4k. I maybe would have went at $3k.

The original Z71 did not go to a friend at $8k because a friend of mine called the guy and asked if it is for sale and the seller said yes. He said on the phone he would take $8200 for it. It was a big story and I knew that. At this point I will just stay away and see if he contacts me. I will not contact him at all.

He may not have liked it but I negotiated in good faith. He has lied to me. He just doesn't want me to have it. That is ok with me.

Seems like his lowest price is 8k. Not leaving any room for negotiation. And to me, that’s way too much.
OTOH, it seems strange y’all can’t meet in the middle. If you’re good with spending $7700 on it, seems silly to haggle / walk away from it when you should both be able to agree on $7850 or so.
