Does this generation NOT have a fuel filter?

I was just online looking up some scheduled maintenance parts and can't find an "exect fit" fuel filter for my 2012. Do these not have one? My 2001 does.

Yep, that is why I am glad I have my 02 so that I can actually change the fuel filter.

its pretty annoying and the terrible idea that it is is shared through multiple brands. my 99 ram i used to have was somewhere in the tank aswell.

It used to be that the only filter in the tank was a strainer "sock" at the pickup tube and then of course the fuel was then filtered with the inline filter.

It’s still just a sock in the tank but the inline filter was done away with. Fuel pressure regulator also used to be on the fuel rail and easily replaceable but it’s now also part of the pump assembly.

I'm familiar with those socks that mount on the end if the pump. All the pumps I've ever replaced in any of my vehicles had them.

I wonder why they did away with an inline filter. Maybe the same reasoning why they did away with the cabin air filter.

Hell, my riding mower even has a fuel filter, but I guess not having one hasn't caused too many problems, many of these trucks with 200k-300k miles on them.

Hi - I have a 2007 5.3 Tahoe , based in the UK (so not much local knowledge, the workshops here know about Jaguars and Range Rovers.......) , I am told also the filter is in the pump. I have 150K miles on it and wanted to have the filter changed.
would you say this configuration does not need filter changes, or is the complete pump replaced ? or can you just replace the "cardboard" part as you do with the air filters ?

No replacement is necessary unless you have so much crap in your petrol that the filter is clogged.

Yep, when I recently went to look up my fuel filter for my 2005 Tahoe I found there was none but was at the fuel pump. If you want to replace, need to do fuel pump. I very much doubt the design includes cardboard.

There is no actual filter, it’s called a strainer and it’s part of the fuel pump assembly. It’s a sock consisting of fine plastic mesh that sits in the bottom of the fuel pump bucket. It’s not replaceable except as part of the entire fuel pump assembly.

Still not exactly replaceable, but there is a actual filter. It's a metal can surrounding the pump.

The funny thing is, for years there's been this "sock" filter on in tank fuel pumps, but there was also an external filter. My 2001 has an external filter on the drivers side frame rail. Wonder what year they stopped using them?

My ‘03 also has it, but it’s a flex fuel, and IIRC, the ‘03 that’s non FF does not have this filter. Or it could just be a different filter..

For 04, non-flex has a filter as well, but it's different than the flex filter.

I looked at RA and looks like 2004 was the last year of the rail mount fuel filter of any kind. My 2005 does show only an external fuel filter for flex fuel.

My 2004 and 2005 Silverado's with non-flex fuel 5.3's did not have a separate fuel filter.

Yea, I only looked at the Tahoe's. 2004 showed both gas and flex external fuel filters but only the flex fuel filter for the 2005.
