Hi there first of all great thread i did this to my 01 tahoe yesterday since i live in south texas and we are having 100 plus temps latley. i followed everything you put to the T. Only thing is i had to reverse the wires on the efan because when i installed it was pulling instead of pushing so when i reversed it pushed correctly in sync with the radiator clutch fan. temp stays steady at 210 or below and ac very cold now. thank you for thread again.

I've got a 2001 suburban 1500 I tried to perform this mod on I however just ran a wire straight to the fuse block connection and a ground to the body from the fan it worked fine for a few minutes and then the motor on the fan locked up but no wires or fuses got hot or blew so I'm curious if that's all the relay is for is to prevent this incident or if I have another issue

The relay is there so you can use it to trigger the main power to the fans since these can pull 40-50 amps. To use just a switch for that kind of power you would need a huge switch. The relay can be triggered by a small wire with a small fuse on it with the main power to the relay having a much bigger wire and fuses. You might have melted the inside of the wire so it doesn’t pass current anymore. Is the fan locked up or does it spin freely?
