Shipping the glass can only be done by freight and in a wooden box, it’s not worth it. And a properly murdered out vehicle will always look badass but if you don’t like them that’s cool. Hate to say but black is the new chrome. The difficulty generally is choosing the right wheel/ tire combo so they don’t disappear on a black vehicle.
For the glass I would try Nu- Glass by hand or buffer at slow speed or Hot Sauce water spot remover. Nu-Glass is like the glass cook top cleaner that you rub on, let dry to a powder and then wipe off. It takes a bit of elbow grease if you do it by hand but it works great.

Good idea. I had mine painted by my bud who owns a body shop and they haven’t chipped in 2 years. I think the roof rack would look good on yours in black.Just looking at the chrome parts of the racks and I think if I decide to black them out I will have them powdered. I can probably get that done for $50 for the set. Then I don't have to worry about chipping or fading from paint over the chrome.

Digging the garageYou must once again be hailed as ruler of the hoes because the stove top cleaner worked perfect! I used some crap i had under my sink called CermaBryte, then white vinegar, rainX and finally invisible glass.
I agree I laid the rack up there just for fun and the chrome is a little to much. Still gonna do the end caps first and go from there.

Digging the garage![]()

Lol, didn't even notice it was a refkection. That's some clean ass glass! Thanks its just a little 24x26 metal shop. Works great just heats up like the ovens of Auschwitz in the summer. That is actually just the reflection in the window showing how pristine it is now.
Well hopefully the yoke hitting the evap bracket is finally solved. Just had to put my big boy pants on and do some real chopping. Cut the corner off the mount the bracket attaches to. Don't see any reason this would effect anything else negatively and hopefully my problem is solved.

I'll keep an eye out!
Is there a particular model or year range they come on? Esky only? Denali only? One, two or three model years only?
05-06 Tahoe’s for sure not sure if it came on Denali or Yukon. You have to look at the truck, there’s no RPO code. Some yards differentiate them by descriptions like “ no frame around glass, wide trim at top” etc.I'll keep an eye out!

What is weird is the randomness of it. I went to a yard and looked at 6 different 05-06 Tahoe’s of every type and none of them had that glass. This one came off a 2005 Z71 Tahoe.

Cool! I thought it was exclusive to the higher trim models- Denali, Esky, maybe Z71, etc. That opens up the possibilities.
My local yard is an LKQ U-pull-it, so they don't keep note of specifics such as trim around glass, etc. I give 'em $2, pass the turnstile and the hunt is on! They're decently well-organized so I just head to the sea of fullsize SUVs.
This tropical storm brought cool weather and has me on a roll today in the garage! Found the culprit of a squeak that surfaced a week or so ago only when turning left and low speeds. It's the brake pad clip getting stuck rubbing the rotor. Pulled it apart lubed it and problem solved.
Also as much as I kinda hate stickers I just want to world to know I have a mans-trans! Had to update the new window.
Lastly looking into the parts needed to move the trailer hookup into the bumper next to the license plate. View attachment 253913 View attachment 253914 View attachment 253915
