HAD a 4.8. Put a 6.0, cammed, tuned etc. It WAS a beast til it blew.
Oil pressure sensor was broken. It was pegged at 80 psi forever. Along with the cam, I had a HV Melling oil pump installed. Drove it almost every day for 2 yrs, 1 day it made a noise. Sounded like a lifter noise. Motor wasn't getting oil pumped to the top end.Dang that sounded good! What happened to that motor?
I'm about to go pull spark plugs on mine now.

Has a btr stage 3 truck cam in it. Hopefully the cam is still good.
You should post up the race truck status for sure. When it comes down to it--we're all gear heads and we all have a love of wrenching--some more then others.Man that cam sounds good! Sounds much bigger than 218/224. If I ever end up pulling the heads on my Tahoe 6.0 it will end up with a bigger cam for sure! Hopefully what's in it will last until I can afford something with 400+cubes.
Not gonna keep updating race truck progress because obviously it's not a tahoeYukon. But I did borescope the cylinders and they look pretty good I think it's a head gasket failure. Will pull heads Monday.

Hopefully no damage has been done. Gonna replace the head bolts? Or did you say you have studs instead? Not gonna clean(mill) the heads up at all?Drained oil and cut open filter it looks good to me. No chunks, minimal sparkle and no coolant or fuel mixed in.

Ahh, I hear ya. If you didn't get hot I think you should be fine.
Tony you already have to spend money on the 'Hoe. Don't get any ideasWas just gonna ask what happened. I'd love to have that sc!!
Start a thread for teh race trokAlright alright I'll break forum rules.
Borescope down the spark plug holes and the cylinders and pistons look pretty good. Kinda impossible to see small cracks but overall they look good. My thoughts now are somehow the LS9 head gaskets have failed. New gasket will be here Wednesday the plan is to pull heads tomorrow evening and hopefully just throw the new gaskets in Wednesday night. Then let her rip tater chip.
Actually go easy on it and get a good 200 miles or so on it without anymore boost to make sure all is going well. Then hammer the thing with boost pulls and get the tune dialed to perfection.

please man that'd be awesomeOh goodness I haven't been laid off yet I still have work to do lol. I'll work on it but its gonna take a lot of work I've had it for 5 or 6 years now and there's only a few things left that are original. Like the interior and the pealing paint. The entire drive train and suspension is completely different.
please man that'd be awesome
