Setting tire type/pressure selection with Tech2

When setting/changing tire type and pressure selection for the TPM system with the Tech2, are the tire pressure options you select meant to be the max inflation pressure on the tire sidewall, what you run them at, or what you want the dash light warning to come on at?

Your desired cold pressure. So with stock 20s the pressure is 32 psi, you would set to 220 KPA. I'm jealous, my menu (2009) is only in kilopascals so I have to convert all the time! LOL

In my case, since I'm running LT tires, I set it for 49 psi but have since dropped to 47 psi. The warning light should come on now around 37 psi.

I believe that telling the computer what kind of tire we're running adjusts the ABS braking to compensate. Cool stuff ain't it?

I thought it was 10 psi but wouldn't a percentage make more sense? Guess there's one way to try and since my wife is driving my truck, you'll have to let out your air and find out! LOL

While perusing the manual for this, I came across a setting in the Tech-2 that mentioned the TPM system being enabled or not in the RCDLR. So to me, that means it could be disabled or not programmed if the RCDLR is replaced.

I also came across a procedure called "Tire Size Calibration" and thought only the GMT800s had this. This is to be done when the ABS module has been replaced. Still can't find anything more on it though. I don't remember seeing it while looking through the ABS module either.

I'll test it later tonight or tomorrow. I set it to 36psi front and rear. I'll let a couple psi out of a tire and drive around the block and repeat until the light comes on.

I did noticed a copy and paste menu, to copy the info to the Tech2 and paste it back after replacing the module

Don't see that tire size calibration option for my 2009 or as a 2010. I did see it under the 2006 though.

I noticed no matter what type of tire I select, the next screen has pressure selections from 25psi up to 90psi

I tested when the low tire warning goes off today. I didn't have to drive it, because I noticed as soon as I let out a few psi of air while sitting in the driveway the DIC updated with the current pressure.

So, yesterday I set the TPM system to a P-Metric Standard tire type (I'm running stock type Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza) and set the pressure to 36psi on the next screen for both front and rear tires. I want the warning to come on earlier, before the tire only has 20-22psi in it.

I wasn't sure if the psi setting on the Tech2 screen was wanting the MAX pressure from the sidewall of the tire (44psi), the recommended inflation from the door jam sticker (32psi), or what you want the low warning to be. James above said that he thought the warning came on 10psi below the set psi, which should be what you keep them inflated to.

I have the tires inflated to 33psi cold. I started letting air out a couple psi at a time and looked at the DIC. The warning came on when the tire got just below 26psi.

I was reading in the manual the other night that when the EBCM is replaced to perform that function along with programming that module, but do not see that as an option on mine anywhere.

Oh, I did see where one could turn off the TPM system and turn off the spare tire TPM on the 2006s. Some guys like Mark @Rocket Man might find this helpful. It was in the Chassis section under special functions but forget now which module, long day.
