I think I'd trigger it using existing factory switches. Maybe by having to pull up on two window switches simultaneously. Or re-purpose the heated washer fluid switch but with an interlock switch on the console lid so it only operates with it open so there's no accidental releasing if someone were playing with switches. Or a good old-fashioned hidden switch, like under the seat or on the back side of the knee bolster or a foot switch in the floorboard/on the firewall.
