LS2 and 2008 LS3 are the same throttle body. 2009+LS3 and LS7 are the same I believe.

LS2 and 2008 LS3 have a silver throttle blade
2009+LS3 and LS7 have gold throttle blade.

They are not interchangeable

Bolt pattern is the same for LS2/LS3/LS7--I'm not sure about the LS9

I believe the measurement is taken at the opening shown here. (this is my throttle body on my 2008 LS3)

The throttle body doesn't void the warranty?
no neither did the cai, when the dealer installed the motor they put both back on it and didn't say a word, I haven't had to have any warranty work done but it's been to the dealer since then for misc stuff and they never said anything then either.

Late to the party, but I wonder what Wes, took out the cat? Sticky fuel injector? You can turn them on and off and check your fuel pump trims too. Your LTFTs @ 7, if they stay there for a long time are off. What's your alcohol content? If that number is off, you can reset the Fuel Trims and Fuel Composition and start her over again.
and the alcohol content is 2% currently, mpg bumped up to 9.8 today, historically it's been 10/10.2 ever since I have had it even with the old motor

Well, it's nearing time to purchase my shorty headers. I'm down to the following choices, and would like any opinions you guys have. I know @kbuskill has the JBAs, but they're the costliest of the bunch. Gibsons are on sale, and that's where I'm leaning right now. Any input would be great.

I went through the same process... I went with JBA because I found a guy with a brand new set that had sold the truck he was going to put them on so I got a great deal.

I don't really think there is any real difference between the Gibsons and the JBAs... they look identical.

I would definitely stay with the 1 5/8" primary tubes though... you don't need anything bigger for a NA 5.3l.

Other than making the engine bay look pretty and noisier, those shorties won't do anything for you..

Have you tried them or are you just regurgitating the same internet wives tales that you hear all the time?

But anyways, i guess it all comes down to what you want to accomplished. I for one am always on the highway. I rather have power up top than dow low. Theres plenty of power to get this tank moving from a stop

i'm just over here like umm.... what's a good cat temp? lol, @80 mph mine are 1600deg's, idling for a bit there 7/800deg can't seem to find any definitive answer, can anyone with a tech2 take some data on there cat temps on the freeway and let me know what you are getting. just if you happen to be going somewhere or whatever, not trying to occupy anyone's time and no rush i'm just curious for my own piece of mind.

Funny, you bought your shorties based on promosing numbers from the webz...

This is partially true... I cannot argue with that.

I did try to base my decision on the fact that I was able to find 2 dyno tests from 2 independent sources that supported the manufacturers dyno results. They all showed a decent improvement over the stock manifolds with stock tuning and only an aftermarket "catback" exhaust system. The peak HP/TQ numbers are not huge... can't remember off the top of my head... but it was the 45 ft lbs gained between 2k-2500rpm that I was more interested in.

Agreed... for me, I see very little interstate time so the added torque down low is welcomed when you have a long body Burb with a 5.3L.

I did it for you in June! See Post #585

Remember, my motor is an LC9 5.3 and am running Magnaflow cats. Compared with mine, I think something is amiss, they are too hot IMO. Maybe Tom or one of the other 6.2 guys can run a scan and get an apples to apples comparison.

My last two fill-ups have been with 93 octane (due to low prices) and my alcohol % on this current tank is 0.0

Is it normal to have NO alcohol content in regular gas?

I am getting better gas mileage than usual though,... Lol

I've seen that a few times. Been running gasoline too and have been hovering around 4-5%. Saw that on another truck too recently, it was at 0% also.

Also in Fuel Trims section, cat temps are towards the bottom. Remember, they are not actual, but calculated based on O2 sensor readings. Close enough for our purposes I reckon.

Do you guys know you can select items to be viewed at the top of the screen? We often have the LTFTs, RPMs and MPH and Alcohol Content up top right after refueling to watch the motor settle in on a new alcohol content percentage.

On the way down to LA it seemed for me that the gas was 12.2% alcohol. I need to check again now that we’re back in oregon next time I fill up. Found it odd that it didn’t even move by 0.1 of a percent from two different fuel stations.

Oregon is supposed to be 10% but I’m not sure about Cali.
