I purchased black tail overlays which are crap. they attach with velcro but at a certain speed the wind gets under them and they fly off.

What is the best way to black out my tails?

Spray tint or film?

Any advise would be appreciated and according to NJ law the lights must be visible from 500 feet. I'm pretty sure when the lights are on you can see them from 500 feet no?

Someone told me VHT Nightshade Tint (5 or 6 layers) + clear coat
Make sure your coats are real light, I did 6 and got a ticket for them being to dark.

Nightshades is the second best option, but if you want professional quality clear coat mixed with back all the way.

4-5 light coats with 3-4 coats of clear, if you decide to do it this way don't go too dark because in the bright daylight it can be hard for the person behind you to see your brake lights.

na, that's after. If you want them black black it can be done but that's asking for alot of unwanted attention from police.
Here's how my wifes car was done using 6 coats of niteshades and clear....

It does look good on a black vehicle but I got more attention from the cops than anybody else and it got annoying.

I'll show you a pic of how my wifes car was done.

Well I looked up NJ law on lights and it says the light must be seen from 500 feet.

Unwanted attention like they stopped you and gave you ticket? I would think this is a gray area as it would be hard to prove you couldn't see the lights when pressed no?

Na no tickets thanks to my PBA shield, but getting stopped is just as annoying to me ticket or not.

id say take them to a local paint shop an see what they can do for u... a rattle can can get the job done but ive never seen a rattle can look as sharp as using a paint gun.. IMO u can tell ah difference in the sun. it shouldnt be that much $$$ its only a few drops of black an lots of clear as stated above..
