Hi All

I have a 03 Yukon with BOSE system.
However the previous owner replaced the radio (2din pioneer with bluetooth, spotify integration, etc.) and connected 4 speakers directly to the radio skipping the bose system. In my opinion it sounds like shi... :)
I'd like to connect this radio to the existing system and I saw that there are PAC-Audio adapters to do that.
This AOEM-GM24 should work, but there is an info on ebay (and I also found it on one of the FB forums):
"Warning chimes will sound through the front left RCA output. Not compatible with premium factory amplified audio systems. To verify if your radio has a premium sound, lower and raise the volume quickly and listen for a lag in response. If the volume has a lag to reach the quick change in volume, the vehicle has a premium sound system. Turning on the rear seat entertainment controls will make the rear outputs of the interface play the second audio source.less"

So, can anyone tell me which bose do I have? Premium? Normal? :)
VIN: 1GKEK13ZX3J193972

Or maybe there's a better solution?

Another question is why this new radio plays badly (the sound is very flat)?

Thanks

Reading your first post a little closer, I'm looking at the wording:

"Not compatible with premium factory amplified audio systems."

I'm guessing this means anything with an amp, whether it's the lux or not. Your Bose system would fall into the "amplified" category.

Hmm. That's not a good news :)
Is there any other way to make the aftermarket radio work with the BOSE system?

My '04 has the same Bose speakers and amp that you do, but not the same radio (I had a 6CD changer). It's not the higher level Bose (as @HiHoeSilver provided RPOs for that). Your amp and sub woofer should be in/under the center console.

Here's what I just installed in mine, and it works great. Crutchfield FTW. Keeps the steering wheel controls and the sub.

EDIT: your UB1 code is:
AM/FM STEREO, SEEK/SCAN. AUTO REV MUSIC SEARCH CASS, CD, AUTO TONE, DATA SYSTEM, CLOCK, ETR

Thanks. I think, I'll order this RP5-GM11 :)
Unfortunately I can't buy this Crutchfield guide, as I'm not from the US. and it seems they don't send it through e-mail...

Did they use the factory speaker wiring? I thought those bose speakers are 8 ohms, and wired in series for a 4ohm load. If they just replaced the speakers into the original wiring, they could be wired to 2 ohm (most aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms). If this is it you could fix it by running new speaker wire. (~$10 in wire and a couple hours).

My other guess would be: Have you taken off the door panels to see what model the speakers are? They may be too high wattage to be connected directly to the head unit without an amp. (If the speakers are just too high wattage for the head unit, you would need to add an aftermarket amp, or get lower wattage speakers).

They could always be blown, but that's probably not it.

To get a better idea, would need to know the model of the head unit, and the speakers (so we can see there power ratings), and then know how they are wired.

IMO I would definitely try to get that aftermarket to work before I tried to go back to the Bose. At the very least, that head unit has many more features and options.

Thanks Guys

Crutchfield forces me to enter the U.S. address (I'm from Poland), and it seems they want to send this guide via dhl, etc.
I'll try the second company.

As for the installation in my car, right now there are new wires from door speakers (front + rear) to the radio (tweeters and sub are not connected). So the original wiring should be still there.
As far as I remember, only rear speakers have been replaced. I'll check what's there right now, but next week as I'm going on short vacations right now :)

What "guide" are you wanting? The Crutchfield fit guide is all online. If you're looking for the installation instructions ("Master Sheet") PM me and I'll email you the PDF.

Hi. One more question. I want to buy this RP5-GM11, but there's also RP4-GM11. The difference is the OnStar retention. Will this RP5 work if I don't have OnStar (I believe I don't have is, but I'm not 100% sure :) )?

Thanks
