Hi all,

Long time GM owner and GM family, have a Sierra currently and an active member on the gm-trucks.com forum. After having a little one recently we are in the market for a bigger family vehicle for my wife. We have driven 2 Tahoe Premiers and a Yukon Denali. All 2018’s and all had the buffeting issue. My question is, is there a particular configuration that might be less prone to the issue? I know the 22” wheels accentuate the issue but wondering if the magnetic ride and sunroofs do too.

I travel a lot for work and have rented a few Tahoe’s and Yukon’s and they haven’t done it, either LT or SLT, 18” wheels standard suspension.

There’s a pretty loaded SLT Yukon for a great price in Houston (we are in Austin, TX) without a sunroof and 20” wheels. Would hate to drive almost 3 hrs just to find out it has the same issues.

Are any configurations safe? Or just the luck of the draw?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

I have a 2018 LT with 20 inch wheels, no sunroof and no buffeting problems. I do have max trailering suspension. Hope this helps

Isn't the buffeting issue the result of too little adhesive in the ceiling bows? It would seem that there was some dude on a particular shift who did not apply enough adhesive. Thought this was limited to the first two years of the K2s.

make sure to pick out any rocks from the tire tread it could de-balance the tires

also make sure they are all removed before the tire is balanced..

oh you mean this it would not be the first time that has happened with a GM vehicle

my grandpas roof flew off his Cadillac XLR @50mph

Pending possible Recall with NHTSA..

Cool thing is I have it on video I had been recording because people were driving crazy around him..

we spent 1/2hour looking for the top and we did find it

he must have been working on the Cadillac first since it's 04 to 09

I have the video of it happening as well i never uploaded it to YT because you tube keeps screwing me on the rotation of the video.. i'm editing it right now to get the rotation right but it's going to take an hour or two because its on my old slow core2duo machine

in the video you can hear a whistling sound just before it flew off it had been making the noise for about 40 miles before it detached it's a 20 min video but i shorted it to 10min
