The rear bumper plastics have been showing signs of wear and I’ve wanted to replace them. Sooner or laterI figure parts like this will no longer be available. Unfortunately these are like gold. Tahoe or Yukon pieces are like $40-50 each. Denali pieces? Left and right top pads are over &150 each shipped and the lower center part is about $350 shipped. I’ve been watching EBay and just found the left top for $30 shipped and even though it was listed as used, the fine print said it had never been installed. It was delivered today. Then tonight I found the top right pad listed as used but I looked at every close up picture and I can tell it’s never been installed either. It was listed at $120 OBO. I got it for $70 shipped. So for $100 I got both parts valued at over $300. Now I just need to find the lower one.

Sweet score! My left side has a broken clip, so it’s loose and drives me nuts! I need to replace it haha. I’m thinking when I replace it, I’ll spray paint it gloss black, so I don’t have to deal with plastic fade.

Wow. I didn't realize they were that expensive. I have a set of z71 ones. Are those special, too?

very nice!

I painted mine on the denali. That turned out pretty good. I should probably do the same on the caddy.

I tried back to black in the past and that worked ok.

Mine was like that. I lifted it up, cleaned a couple areas with alcohol and used black RTV in a couple blobs, and taped it down overnight. It’s held for 2 years.

Not sure, I think it’s a Denali thing.

I used Krylon Dual Bond in a Satin Black that closely matched the original. Gloss looked bad when I tried it. But now there’s some dings and wear. I’ll probably repaint the lower center if I can’t find another deal. It has a tiny bit of damage but not enough to spend $350.

@TheGreatGazoo taught me about SEM Trim Black. He did my appliques with it. Thought about trying it on the remaining gray peices on the hoe.

I used something like that on my Denali iirc.

Edit: found the old pic.

upper pad painted and lower only cleaned/degreased. So you can see the before and after.

trim and bumper paint.

Its like a satin, not too shiny.

If the plastic is just faded you can use a heat gun to bring the dark black color back. Just did it on a bumper piece on my mother in laws compass and it looks brand new

I actually tried that on the running board pieces and it didn’t work on the Denali style textured areas. It almost ruined it, definitely had to paint afterward. It turned the textured raised areas grayish.

Strange? Almost positive the video I watched back in the day was a guy doing it on a Denali rear bumper

I could be wrong tho lol
Well, I tried it. The edges started turning grey almost immediately and stayed that way after it cooled. I tried it on 2 pieces. I’ve had luck on smooth or textured pieces but there’s something about those raised ovals. I guess once again it’s a Denali thing lol.

I got the RH rear bumper pad today and just like I thought it was brand new, never been installed. Ace was out of the Krylon Dual Bond paint I use for plastic so I ordered their Fusion which is better IMO. That’s for the lower center plastic. For now I used Silk Shine on it. I might leave it as is, looks pretty good. I’ll hold on to the old pads, they might be worth something some day when you can’t find new ones at ANY price.

Congrats on that TOTQ win!! The BEAST is a unique piece of machinery for sure.

That pup would make it 3 in my house if the kids saw that. sheesh..cute as all get out!!

The new front end illumination looks great along with the HU and pads. Need to pull my rears off and give them a fresh touch. On my hit list. Just flat out looking good!!
