Once you go stroker and supercharged it creates so much more heat energy it becomes hard to keep it under control while loaded.
I have been through it many times on corvettes where even with aftermarket dewitts radiators and engine oil coolers, once under load, you can watch both temps climb until you unload it, then it levels back out.
The best way to help it is to make sure the incoming air through the front is forced into the radiator via shielding. The effect of having all the air funnelled then forced through the rad at highway speeds is greater than any fans you could ever add.
Do you still have all your factory air deflectors installed after doing the stroker? All those little rubber floppy shield in various spots behind the bumper?
If you dont, start there. If you do, grab some plastic sheeting and some snips, and go to town building as sealed of an air funnel as possible into the rad from any front openings you can. Tape all thevl seams and everything.
Its truly amazing how effective funneling all that air is.

This is next. Got some scrap aluminum sheeting from the metal yard. I think I am getting a lot of deflection from the front coolers.

The one in the link was exactly what I had. And I do not have the k5l option so they are the 500 watt motors. The research is scant but it should be 5/5 or 7/9 blades. And the motors are not interchangeable. The 5/7 is what I ordered and they are the wrong ones for anyone who finds this post 2 years from now. I'm bracing for a fight with that ebay guy as he had them posted as k5l fans.
I am not quit following you the ones shown in the link are the rimmed fans and the motors should be 700w, I ordered the same part and pulled out my 500w system (non rimless fans), and ordered new 700w fan motors, you are right like I stated the 500w motors will not fit on the 700w shroud (or vica-versa) the mounting is different and the motors are shorter than the 700w ones, did they send you something different than what was pictured?

this is what the K5L should look like (bottom) versus the regular 500w, the mounting holes are different for the motors plus the shroud is thicker

I'm hitting 14,606 lbs GCVW on 1/2 ton you guys should be able pull alot more then me . That's with a 5.3L 3:73 4x4 rolling at 55-60 mph good trailer brakes.
Weight distribution hitch with about 800-1000 lb tong weight . And it can do it all day everyday. I got another used 1/2 4x4 this ones got 4:10 ( good for 14,000 GCVW ) I'm sure it do even better job. Last year hauled 63,650 lbs with the rig total in multiple trips. I have realised it's not about takeoff power when towing it's more can you control the load . And get it rolling again . 295 hp on 4:10 for sure a force to be tamed . Durability is key. And keeping heat in check .[emoji106][emoji3]

So what happens when you climb a 6% grade or are towing into a headwind? Come on now, 14,606 all day every day? Im not doubting that you do it, but i question not being underpowered while doing so. unless you are pulling a flatbed with little to no wind resistance?

I've hit the 12 mark towing my humvee so that must be it right? Nope. I started on the quest to fix this for good when it had all these problems when my 1200 lb trailer was empty. That did it for me. Granted it's the shape of a parachute.

im trying to imagine how relaxing it must be to tow below 2k rpm! im still of the opinion to lose the "holy denali grill" for the horizontal standard grill $100 on ebay. Can i ask are you getting better than 10 mpg towing? Im just wondering if the lower rpm equates to better fuel milage even though it's forced induction.

I gave up my 03 suburban 2500 with the 4 speed to tow with this for comfort. The ride is softer and the gears don't hunt. The suburban did like 60 to 65 max before it really started to hunt around. Too fast and it dropped to third permenantly which is worse. I did that for years and really just hated it.
I picked up this one for 4k with a salvage title and a dropped valve. I compared the cost of a duramax conversion vs stroked/supercharged. I'm in this for like 8 or 9k. Don't get me wrong I'm sure the duramax would have had its problems but the little stuff on this one is killing me. I could of leveled a character to 100 in WOW in less time it took to learn the hp tuners software.

As for gas mileage? I got 8.7 to 9.5 all day in the suburban. I get slightly better than that but am going much faster. I've tried just 6th and the the haul mode. I don't see a difference. I go with whatever is comfortable.

I don't keep track but I think I just burned 58 (memory) to go 547 on the map with a few naps where I keep the car running.

One leg of that was tehachapi to vegas. 243 miles in less than 24 gallons.

There's not much for long mountain runs in Minnesota. .

I swear everywhere we tow out west there are grades to contend with, and we live in the ca high desert where 35/40 mph headwinds are not uncommon. dragging a travel trailer that is higher than the tow vehicle roof is like bringing your own hill with you!

Thanks for the info, Our family is at a crossroad's with RV'ING. we have a 22ft aljo lite, 5,500 lbs loaded and bought the denali to tow it. It does fine, but the cost to bring the RV is more expensive to tour than to use hotels. We love the convenience/comfort/cleanliness/cooking but at what cost? Hey but yours is a success story, get your temps under control and your done! Its airflow, what is trans temp while towing?

Dealing with engine heat . It always radiator. And huge electric fans . They kept this GM 7.4 liter cool with biggest radiator . Fan on engine and huge 2 foot electric fan in front of Radiator. 454 with 4:88 gears . It's a power house. It will tow anything you hook to it . Has carburetor style injection. 10 mpg loaded or empty. Power bands right at 1650 RPMs it gives overdrive a nice feel. 385 ftlbs torque basically at idle .

Yeah, and it has like a third the hp and thus a third the heat energy to remove as the original posters rig.
