Thanks for the feedback. Since I need to retain the cats, and don't have the funds to purchase a new y-pipe, I don't think long tubes are an option right now. Or am I missing something?
You can buy longtubes with high-flow cats. I’m not sure on price for the budget headers with their y-pipe and cats but others here have gone that route. I went with American Racing longtubes with cats but they’re speedy. ( My Denali doesn’t use a y-pipe) There are other options though, you should explore. And depending on how old your cats are, they might need replacing soon anyway. Sure would be a shame to go to the expense of shorty headers and then have to replace your cats in a year or 2 and have spent the same as longtubes and new cats up front. Might have to save for awhile but that would be worth it.

Very true. They’re original as far as I know. I’ll have to look into long tubes with cats. Didn’t know that was an option. I figured the shortys attach to the y-pipe, factory, or aftermarket. Haven’t seen a long tube setup that gets rid of the y-pipe.

Long tubes get rid of the factory Y-pipe, requiring a new one to mate with the headers and then to the rest of the exhaust, typically where the factory Y-pipe did. Most long tube manufacturers have Y-pipes with cats.

Do it right, do it once. ;)

I have these wires and they work great.20190411_065836.jpg Screenshot_20190411-065714_Amazon Shopping.jpg
I went with these because they have shorter boots. The stock length boots kept burning on the headers. Usually the gaskets and bolts you get with budget headers suck. Buy better header bolts. I went with Fel Pro gaskets after the ones they sent blew out. Still holding up great. Good luck Sam :D

I love the kooks. I don’t know.. y’all are making me realize I should just wait and do long tubes, with a new y pipe... it’s this damn noisy exhaust leak driving me crazy every time I hear it...

Thanks Tony! I’ve been struggling, trying to decide on which wires to get. These are cheaper than the two was looking at as well. [emoji106][emoji16]

Ordered!, along with Delco 41-962 plugs. So for the header bolts.. I think it was @Chrismnj, who had the stage 8 header bolts. I haven’t looked into the options too much, but those look really good. Though, they seem like they’d be a royal ***** to get off as well.. for the gaskets, I guess just order the stock parts for the year.?
