So I have a cassette player but no tapes as everything is CD now.
I'll take it out and add USB charger ports.

I don't need no stinking OnStar!
Researching dumping that and maybe try to keep the buttons but wire them for something else.
Like maybe a bright flashing red light in the back seat to shut up back seat drivers?
(Wife nixed the idea of a stun gun hook up)

Over head buttons for garage door and such. I don't even have a garage let alone a garage door!
So 3 more buttons to contemplate doing something with.

I like the stun gun hookup :D. Handy when you have kids--or grand kids.

On the Remote garage door buttons...........
I'm wondering IF I could somehow over ride the rear air shocks so when you hit the down button it dumps air. Hit the up button it pumps up.
Would be a hoot to do that. Use the little house button to turn those switches on and off or some other evil purpose.

you may be in luck on most of those buttons, the nnbs systems are pretty much entirely serial data bus driven so doing things like that presents much more of a challenge.

I do have a nice automatic door opener or 2 I took out of a demolition job.
I may look at them and hook one up to the hood then use those garage door up/down buttons for it.
Years ago I had a Camaro that I used an old convertable top setup to open and close the trunk where the duel N20 tanks were.

to be honest I don’t remember when I bought or played a CD, carplay all the way

LOL I'm still spending money on them. I've got 2 towers, a total storage of 1224 CDs, coming in the mail right now. They're towers number 4 and 5.

Thank God for Amazon and Discogs.

I can't remember the manufacturer, but there is an " On Star " swap. A box that you plug into the OnStar hook up and you use the complete OnStar system as a personal cell phone use independent of the cost of OnStar. And all the factory-installed components & buttons you use, but no OnStar rip-off cost. It's now free.
