Truth be told... they are probably both negative.

One probably goes to ground/negative and the other side probably goes to the BCM and when you press the tow haul button it just grounds that wire temporarily which the BCM interprets as a signal.

Very common on GM vehicles to use a ground signal to turn things on and off.
That’s interesting! I didn’t know that! I’m curious, do you think it’ll have any affect on the shifter side of the wires?

Yeah I looked at that thread. Lol. But it doesn’t tell me which white wire is positive and which is wire is ground. Lol. I don’t like not knowing
It’s a switch. No negative or positive, it’s either open or closed as in either those 2 wires are connected to each other or they’re not. So it doesn’t matter, and that’s why they’re both the same color. Make sense?

hummm... ideas spanning from the unused shifter buttons that are resistive input. bet a couple extra buttons come in handy
This is what I want to do. Have a pic of your harness?
haha I second that now I'd like to see pics of harness. are u guys using just a 07-14 shifter from nnbs I see the ones with and without buttons

I had a leather one out of an Escalade but in trying resurface it to tan, I jacked it up. Lol. Another member had a black one from a 2011 LTZ burb so I picked up quick off him. It has the +/- buttons. All I did was connect the two white wires to the white wires in a pigtail I grabbed from an NBS truck in the junkyard and left the NBS pigtail on the shift handle side. That way when I’m ready to install in the truck all I have to do is connect the two pigtails like the guys said^ here’s a couple pics of mine.

So just making sure I'm reading the posts on all these correctly, the tow/haul button will work, but the +/- shifter button will not.

Unfortunately, if you test the wires coming off the + - buttons with a multimeter you’ll see they have 2 different resistive values depending on if you press the + or - button. I didnt see a way to open up the shifter and remove the internal circuit either, so finding a use for the buttons is a challenge.

I should be able to use resistance differences as button inputs to my car computer ;) thinking dashcam, rear view switch

Finally did my nnbs shifter swap.

I think it looks pretty good.
You need to use your old rubber boot, nnbs is too stiff. Has hard plastic under the rubber outer edge. 2 different part #'s too. Make sure you swap the boots before assembly:rolleyes:.

Also, you need a T30 torx.
I cut the plug from my old stock shifter and put it through the ends of the nnbs plug.

I didn't want to cut them. Wires are so thin.

Success--tow/haul works.
