After it shuts down, can you immediately turn it on, or does it take a while? Also, I believe you bought it on Ebay, they won't take it back or replace it?

Ron

If you push the power button it comes right back on for another 5-10 minutes and then repeats. The seller said it had a 14 day return refund policy and it is too bad that it took me longer than that to find it had an issue so I am SOL on returning it.

Well, if it comes back on immediately, it means it is not shutting down because it is overheating or so.

I wonder if there is an issue with your harness, these radios get turned on similar to a motherboard, it needs a signal, a high, that turns the radio on/off, if you turn the car off the radio stops after a while, or when you open the door.

Check with Matt, he is the guy that programmed your radio, right?

Matt had me check a bunch of stuff and it is not the harness so I took it out and am on hold for now. Also when I open the door it no longer turned off and I had to manually turn it off when I got out of the truck.

That sounds like a harness problem though. I assume the old radio still works just fine?

Yes the original radio works just fine. If it was a harness issue then it would not explain why it worked perfectly for a week before this issue arose! I unplugged everything and replugged it all on two separate days just to make sure everything was plugged in tight and correctly and the issue continued.

Can you possibly tell me how the heck to get the main plug out of the back of the nav radio? I have been trying for nearly an hour and I'll be danged if I can get this stupid thing unplugged. I wanted to try a different Conversion harness but I am too stupid to figure out how to unplug this one!

The main one? the "double plug" It has a hinge/lock on it that you have to turn back, and it will push it out. Also, it needs to be open to slide it in (not force it) and close the handle, and the handle will push the plug in place. If you don't do it that way, but force it in/out, you might bend a pin.

Ron

(Works the same way as these "many connector" plugs and risers on mother boards.)

Well I don't work on mother boards and you are speaking greek! How do you turn back a hinge? How is it supposed to push out the connector when it will not push in to begin with? I have it pulled out and that is where it is stuck and so am I.

Also when you ;tuck' the harness in, make sure all the wired go through that big hole, right behind the radio (where the plugs are, and none of the cables get pinched etc. The wires, in the conversion harness that were cut have shrink wrap on them (heat tubing)... I put a bunch of electrical tape over that, because heat shrink tubing has a tendency to come off on the ends of cable./wires, especially when it gets hot (and cars do get hot)

attached picture, the 3rd cable from the left, that big plug, has a 'handle' that you need to lift, uninstalling, and press down when installing. If you zoom in on the plug you can see the handle.

Ron

PS: in case you use an amplifier inline with radio-harness, there'd be two of these plugs
