the cluster is programmed for my vin with the same mileage and hours, the only issue I am having now is I am so used to the needles being straight up for the temp/oil/volts and these are just a notch off from normal at initial warmup so I have to either adjust it myself or have someone else do it or send it back so the vender can do it. if I don't do it it's going to drive me crazy some form of OCD I guess lol

I get the OCD thing. I'd use a scan tool to see what temps the sensors are reporting to the PCM and compare that to the gauges. Your old cluster may have been slightly inaccurate and the new one is actually better. If you wanna be technical, none of the OEM gauges are 100% accurate. I believe I'd be able to ignore it... Maybe...

I think I have my underhood light idea narrowed down, I can run it just under the front frame lip edge where the battery cable goes across and it wont be the way of anything at all, and I will probably just drop in a hood pin and make the pin the ground for simplification.

Yup. Grandma rear ended me and then this. Haven’t had her back for two weeks
I hate that, sending mine in shortly, im more inclined to just take them the parts and have them paint them and give them back, it sits in the body shop and gets all there crap on the rest of the truck

I did the hood pin thing, be sure you get a quality pin (if there is such a thing) because I have to wiggle mine to make contact. I am currently looking for a different way, probably a tilt switch. Here is what I did. http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/kenny-ds-tahoe-to-go-thread.92097/

I went by the audio shop today and they just gave me one that is from a directed alarm system and some loom-free
they end up with a lot of extra's because there included with the alarms but not used on the newer cars that have a factory one already

Yeah that’s what I did. Most likely will order a new bumper then swap them out.

I'd use something like this:

You could use a small piece of aluminum angle to make a bracket to mount it to the fender lip or similar. It'd be almost guaranteed to work every time.
