What type of oil to use for Winter

Anyone ever use Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage. Only ask cause they have 5 quarts for 10 bucks

I did once cause of the cheap deal. It was fine. I usually run M1 high mileage.

This is a pretty sensational claim seeing how the Platinum is full synthetic. There is however a non-Platinum high mileage which seems more believable.

I use Penzoil Platinum High Mileage 5W20 in my Ford focuses and 5W30 in my Yukon. It quited down the valve train noise I had in one of the focuses, and seams to had no ill effect on the Yukon. I can't say if that was the Penzoil specifically, or the switch to synthetic.

Who has 5 quarts for $10?

Sorry should of mentioned where the deal is. Walmart has it for 20 bucks for 5 quarts and penzoil has a promo where u get 2 bucks back for each quart of oil so for a 5 quarts is 10 bucks back. I was going to get 3 of them cause of the deal but if the oil is crap then I don't want to buy just cause it's a good deal

I've used it. i don't discriminate on brand but will always stay with full syn 5w30 in these trucks all 4 seasons

Yea I just ordered it online and picking it up tomorrow. Got three 5 quarts for ten bucks a pop. Been doing oil changes at my local shop but with conventional non synthetic oil so one way or the other this is an upgrade

5w30 just like most have mentioned, just turned 200k and original. Good luck.

I noticed some oil filters say they last upto 15,000 miles till needing a change like the Mobile 1 filter. Do you guys change the filter every 3000 miles or do you trust the filters and change every 15k?

The Mobil 1 filters are like $8 on rockauto. I change it every time. My OCI is 5000.

Change mine at 5k regardless. Peace of mind knowing it could run longer.. so could the oil i suppose.

Same. Oil change with full synthetic and a fresh M1 filter every 5000 miles in all my vehicles.

X5 for me on the oci's on Mobil 1.

I generally get to 5K miles within 3 months..If for some reason I do not get to 5K miles in 3 months I will change it out in 5 months no matter how little miles I put on..Makes me sleep better.

April fools I change over to Valvoline High Mileage 10W-30 semi-syth for the Summer and then sometime in November I change to the same brand 5W-30 for the Winter. I only put maybe 6000 miles a year.
