Few days ago I was driving and heard a loud sound, sorta like a jack hammer and it felt like the rear drop. Is it normal for the air shocks to over fill and let out air like mine did?

If your shocks are leaking air you need to pull the fuse for the compressor so it doesn't burn up. Look for one labeled RTD in the under the hood fuse box. Then start looking for the source of the leak. If it's the air bags then you need new shocks. Could be an air line though.

I pulled over and the compressor wasn't running. I shut the engine down, then restart and the compressor came on for a few seconds then shut off.

It shouldn't be releasing while you're driving. Mine will release when I park on not level spots. But not while driving. My compressor comes on occasionally while I'm driving, but nit often. However it's not very loud. I can only hear with no music and all windows down while at a stop. As red said, could be a leaking shock, or could be an air line that is either leaking or not firmly attached to the shock and leaking at the plug.

Before I deleted my autoride, my compressor would kick on every couple minutes when I would have all 5 passengers in the rig or the cargo area loaded up. It was actually pretty loud when it did it. I had some pretty bad holes in the bladder of the shock which, I'm pretty positive is why it did that but I never fixed it, instead used that money to replace it with bilstein 4600's and hellwig sway bars. I dont remember feeling like the rear dropped though. What I would do is wash the rear shocks with really soapy water, fire it up after its been sitting for a while or maybe put something heavy in the back and watch to see if you can see any bubbles from the air bladders or where the lines connect while its filling it up. Then repeat on the lines all the way to the compressor if you cant find anything on the shock.
