No fog light button

Hopefully there isn't a thread on this that I'm missing. I just picked up an 07 Yukon yesterday and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to turn on the fog lights. The manual says that button is underneath the dome override button, but it doesn't exist on mine. I have the fog lights, but no way to turn them on. What stupid little thing am I missing here?

I've tried searching online, but I'm just not coming up with the correct combo to narrow down the results.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I also have a call into the previous owner, but he's out of pocket and this is driving me nuts.

Did it come from the factory with the fog lights? What trim level is it? The button should be on the left side next to the head light control. It is to the left of the 4wd or if you dont have that its on the left of the hole.

Should be between the to circle knobs if you have it.

It did come factory with the lights, and has the SLE trim. Let me get a pic of the dash as it doesn't look like the one you posted.

Nada. It's a blank. not a button.

its seems that its missing that button. next thing follow the wires from the fog ligts. see if its wired to the factory system or it was an aftermarket install.

Wire tracing is on my to do list. Hopefully I can get in touch with the previous owner again and figure out what the deal is.

Looks like the fog lights are for appearance only. No wires to trace. ON top of that, they don't even match.

Any suggestions on where to get a complete kit?

You can always pick up a fog light wire kit from PIAA that you can wire in yourself.

I bought a complete oem kit from the dealer for my pickup a few years ago for like $150. I didn't think that was too bad.

I got the parts from my chevy dealer, picked up detailed instructions on how to self-install from chevyforum.com. Had to replace switch on the dash and wire to a fuse in the fuse box (located under the hood).

When I press the lower half of the switch, fog lights come on.

Yep. Sucks even more that the original owner forgot to tell me that they weren't functional.

I finally found the GM PART # 19157652 for the replacement kit, so I'll be calling my local dealer tomorrow to see if he can beat the online price. I do plan on doing it myself and will take pics and notes during the install.

To be honest, I hadn't even thought about the HID's option. I went ahead and ordered the kit, which should be in tomorrow or Monday. If it doesn't look like I'll get to install them in the near term due to the all the holiday related happenings, I might pursue HIDs.

Finally got around to installing my fog lights. Unfortunately, time didn't allow me to take pics and document the process like I would have liked. I had to squeeze the install in along with an oil change and tire rotation.

The kit came with instructions, but with most things, the pics in the instructions didn't quite match what I had to work with. Plus the amount of detail on the "how to" isn't as much as I would have liked either. In any case, I have them installed and they worked on the first try.

Disconnect the negative lead on the battery first.

Popping the knob control unit out of the dash was easy enough and just a simple plug n play swap with the new one. (see pic in prev post) The pic above doesn't show it, but the kit came with the wiring harness that goes under the hood. Nothing extra needed under the dash.

The hard part that I ran into, and not really an issue after the fact, was trying to figure out how to pull the junction box out to get to the bottom side. I was afraid of breaking something, so extra caution on my side extended the installation time. You have to get the "handles" just right in order to "pop" out the box. I used the "tab with two bolts" on the front end of the box to help left it out. Once out, you pop off the main connector "X1" box from the bottom of the junction box and plug the harness in.

It took me a few minutes to decipher the diagram on where to plug it in as the connector itself isn't labeled. I looked for the open slots (unused) on the connector, using the diagram as a guide, then looked at the junction box to see where pins existed. This helped rule out which ones I couldn't use. On the XI connector box, you have to slide out the TPA (red tab that keeps the wires in place). Plug in the wire and slide the TPA back in. Replace the X1 connector and put the junction box back in. Then it's a simple matter of running the harness to ground and to the fog light locations. The lights themselves simply snap in place.

Reconnect the battery and pull the trigger.

Unfortunately, while I was rotating my tires, I think I disconnected some wires on the frame rail (based on searching here) as I'm now getting "Service Traction Control" and "Service Stabilatrac" on the instrument panel. Guess I get to get back under the truck again today.
