Reading this thread- Been debating about changing out my factory grille, and going with the Denali grille, blacked out of course. I (like a few others) am not a huge fan of chrome. Monochromatic color has always been a signature of my vehicles- Moving on, for those who have wanted to "black" out your GMC logo on the front and back, and wanted alternatives to paint/plati-dip, etc. I experimented with an idea a friend suggested, vinyl. I found a cheap roll of vinyl film with the "carbon fiber" pattern. (A roll of 20' x 3' cost me around 20 bucks). Cutting a couple of rectangles out, I placed it onto the logos (it was a warm summer day, but I imagine a heat gun could also be used) allowed it to "settle" into all of the bevels and grooves. I used a sanded popsicle stick, and chopstick to feather the vinyl into the tight areas, and then trimmed it with an exacto knife. The end result was a black carbon fiber logo. And, if I get tired of it, or it wears out, I peel it off, clean it with alcohol and do it again. Took about 20 minutes and the cost was well worth the look. If anyone is interested, I'll post a close up photo- It's raining right now in Southern California (has been for what feels like weeks). So, might be a little bit. 12274422_10203831139898173_2791838986880879076_n.jpg GMC Logo bef aft.jpg

WTSHARK,
I've been thinking about doing mine in Flat Black for some time nopw, and been contemplating the best way. I think I'm going to replace the Chrome Denali grille with this one I saw on eBay,
so I never have have to worry about Black paint or plasti-dip from peeling off my Chrome one.....Want to keep my color matched grille bezel and just replace the mesh portion.
Judging from some OEM replacements I've seen, the mesh fastens to the bezel with screws on the side and bottom.

Got my Denali grill from a collision shop for $150, install was a pain since I had to remove the front bumper. Had to fix it up a little but you would never tell looking at it. Also plasti dipped front and rear emblems black to match the truck. Still have the SLT grill if anyone is interested.

I just switched to a Denali grill. Honestly I thought I'd love it more. Maybe it will look better tomorrow out of the garage.
