I bought mine about a year ago from a member here, the unit is still going strong, however the unit occasionally reboots it self and freezes but its no biggie it rarely happens so doesn't bug me much. It has all the features I need and also improved sound quality on stock speakers. for a 3k unit just wished it operated like a android/apple tablet... btw does anyone have the hvac option on their unit?? found these pics from alpine

:emotions122: I fell asleep and woke up thinking about why the screen flipped out if no CD/DVD slot existed. Then it hit me..you was joking. You was joking right? Lol
No, no I wasn't but I also misspoke. My first was an Eclipse flip tv with out cd or dvd, I used a cd changer and vcr...

Then a Kenwood tv with only cd and an alpine single din dvd player, then, finally, a Kenwood with dvd.

This was around the 1999 too early 2000s, the tvs all had "brains" also that you had to mount. Good times, but things have advanced quite a bit, lol.

In about 1999 my middle brother paid about $2400 for a Kenwood flip out DVD player with built in TV tuner. It was a KVT-910DVD. At the time it was the hottest shit on the market. He had quite a bit of money from a legal settlement, so he was throwing money around like crazy. I still think $2400 for that Kenwood was flat out "stupid" though. Between the damn Kenwood TV/DVD player, three amps, and all the speakers and sub's, he easily shelled out about 10 grand on his stereo system. I'm the one who installed everything, except he had someone else build the sub box. To this day, my youngest brother still has that damn KVT910 stashed away in a box somewhere. I know that its worthless now, but he worked some sort of trade with my middle brother for it, basically he accepted it as payment because my middle brother owed him about $600 for something, this was about 2005 or so, and its been just sitting there ever since. Its basically obsolete junk now. LOL

910 was only a CD player IIRC, the 911 was a dvd. I had both. Does his 911 work still?

No, it was definitely a KVT910 DVD player. The first one was anyway. He had it replaced under warranty about a year or two after I installed it, and I remember that they did replace it with a newer model, but the plugs were all the same so it simply unplugged and the new one plugged right in.

Looking specs you're correct, I don't remember the part number of the non dvd then.

Are the buttons on the side really hardpressed and make a click sound?

Did you change out anything else (ie speakers amp) and if not, was the sound undeniably louder better for it?

Does it pair effortlessly w phone via Bluetooth?

Last but not least, what about it you don't like to this day? If any?

But to answer your question, yes it still works. Or at least it did when he packed it up in a coardbord box back in 2003 or 2004 or so. He boxed up that head unit and a few Fosgate Punch amps and its all just been sitting ever since. I tried over and over to get him to sell it to me, but he refuses for some reason.

I wanted to ask if he would sell it cheaply but it sounds like no, lol. If he is real nostalgic I have a Kenwood music keg that I used with mine he might be interested in.

Yeah, I once offered him $400 for it and he turned me down. That was around 2009 or 2010 I think. I tried trading him some of my old car audio stuff as well. I still have an older Alpine AiNet 12 disc CD changer that I'm sure is absoe worthless by now, and a two Kenwood PS series amps, and an Autotek amp. I did have a box with three Orion tens, but it got flooded in Katrina become it was in my garage. Luckily I had the other stuff boxed up in my attic which was high and dry.

Yes the buttons on the side are hardpressed and they do make a clicking sound, but i am fine with it. I have the non Bose system and sound quality improved making it sound more clearer, cleaner and louder, i can hear some instruments in songs i couldn't hear before. Great thing is this system has lots of Equalizer settings to mess around with to get the sound you want, But id still recommend replacing speakers and adding amps for an even better sounding experience as the stock speakers distort really bad when you want it loud.

Bluetooth pairs effortlessly automatically connects when i get into the car and turn the power on.

It would be an amazing system if the firmware was a lot faster, as in if the system moved as fast as like how you would be on a iPad quick scrolling less lag etc... but overall the system is fast enough compared to other 2016 OEM system i have messed with, i can live with that. Would i buy it again? probably but not for the full price.

Great response. I really appreciate your honesty.. Like I said I really really do like how it looks, but for $2500/in 2014/2016 ,Alpine could of added soft buttons, apple car play, android auto , a more responsive screen, and a way better display. Seems they are targeting a specific customer. But again, real nice to look at. I won't rule out putting one on the card.

its better than what was there, everything is plug and play out of the box start to finish. In my older days with less money I'd spend the time cheaping around finding all the work arounds. Now I just want to open the box and install it and have everything ready to go.

The soft touch buttons aren't that bad, most of the time I'm just tapping the volume up or down on the wheel rocking out with pandora. Sound quality is far beyond what was there. Most everyone knocking the head units doesn't even have the amps, speakers, or sound deadening to have a leg to stand on. Hell it covers up my obnoxious exhaust and is enough to shake the mirrors.

As for carplay/android, Have it on the escalade, not all that wild about it, might as well pick up the phone vs dicking around poking at the dashboard.

and on the topic of retro audio, I still ahve the junk I pulled from the tahoe from 2002. The alpine CVA 1006 flip up monitor, 6 dvd changer, dvd based nav, surround sound processor run on optical. And my 3 old school super conservatively rated kicker amps (the ones you can link into a 50 something inch wide monstrosity and make people scratch their head when they lift the rear seat) Gave my buddy the original 12 inch L7 and the kicker made demo box, never was impressed with the squares. Have a round 12 in my C5 vette, and had two 10's in my 92 Z28......the two 10 solobarics sounded better and hit harder than the 3 10w6's that replaced. them on the same 800 wat RF punch amp, before they sold out too.

Now you can buy one unit that drops right in, no stand alone brains, ridiculous harnesses, a tiny ass amp and it sounds better than the old stuff. Of course the 15 year old Focal Poly Kevlars that were like 350 for 6.5 2 ways still sound sweet, albeit a lil harsh with titanium vs silk tweets.
