I could not take it no more with the crack so I just bought a used one from eBay and plan to install it myself. I will be posting before and after pics when completed. I will keep you guys posted. I might even turn this project into a how to write up.

Have you talked to your dealer? Mine replaced my dash, out of warranty, for $100 about a month ago.

Parthery, I'm in Atlanta too. Dash is cracked and chrome is peeling off handles. What dealership did you go to and how did you get them to help you out? I called Steve Rayman Chevrolet and they told me too bad.

So what part of your dash was broken? Yes, the entire front pieces have to come off to replace the top dash parts, but you show everything that had to be removed.

The part that was cracked was the part over the instrument cluster and airbag, due to the cracks i was getting a lot of rattling. The pics is of the new one that I will install this weekend if I decide not to wrap the dash in leather.

Ive done a million of these, its not bad. Just takes some time and patience. Dealer pays I think 7.5 hours repair time on them, Ive gotten it down to about 40 minutes start - finish, but I used to do them damn near weekly.

But what is the cost for the average Joe to come in and buy one to put in himself? $400 for a big piece of plastic that cracks apart in 1-5 years is absurd IMO

Unfortunately it is what it is. A lot of it has to do with climates and care. The other has to do with ****** product. They did change the design slightly in 2012-2013. It has almost a texturized coating on it which is supposed to be a little more durable. It just one of those ****** situations. My 07 Tahoe I bought in 2011 was cracked. My 2010 Silverado still isn't cracked. It's almost like luck of the draw

Fair enough. What's confusing is some dealerships are willing to help consumers with the cost or pay for the whole damn thing while others tell you to pound sand. I wouldn't mind doing it myself if they just supplied the part.

Thanks guys but I still have not got around to swapping out the dash yet, due to weather and work. I have already taken the old dash apart and sold most of the parts on eBay. I only have one question and maybe Flatdale would be able to answer this question. When removing the dash how difficult is it to remove the passenger airbag is it as simple as disconnecting the battery terminals and unscrewing the bolts that keep in place. Once I am done I will post picks of the before after and during of the dashboard rebuild.

So easy. remove the trim piece on the right side (wood grain or brushed piece) there are two 10mm bolts thru the openings behind that trim. Take those out, and I think theres one more under the glove box. Unplug it (we never disconnect battery because airbags still hold a charge regardless), and push it up from below and out of the dash. Dont try to pry up the cover from the dash. Any other help needed just PM me.

Sure would like to see if GM will replace my dash or give me a discount while they are replacing the front airbags as part of the recall.
