i just did a minor overhaul of my stereo. i decided to keep the stock head unit for now since im getting married next year and closing on a house next month. i did kicker DS650 components up front and DS650 coaxles the rear. i picked up a cheap line out converter and used the stock sub wiring to get the signal for my old 12" orion XTR and 600 watt kenwood excelon mono amp.

i have had that sub and amp in 4 different cars now. its hits GREAT for what it is. it sounds so much better for now though. i bet a nice head unit will make all the difference too.

next project is painting the bumper cap, lower valance and vent caps. going to try it myself and see what happens. still trying to decide if i want to keep the fender flares and paint them or get rid of them.

NIce! staying cheap and using what you got always works. Ived had the same amp and subs for 6 years or so now and they still hit hard. how are those components workin for you?

for the cheaper side of kicker, not bad at all. much crisper than stock. and im still on a stock head unit. of course with all what, 7 watts? that the stock stero pushes i have no mids but the sub makes up for it. the amp i have is really nice and i can dial all that in to come from the sub. just havent done that part yet.

my amp and sub is about 8 years old. even the cooling fan in the amp still works...noisy...but works lol. had it in my

Sounds like you have a decent set up goin! Have you tried taking your amp apart and cleaning all the dust from around the fan area? Might make it a little less noisy for ya. Oh, congrats on the wedding and the new house, post some pics when you move in! Any dates for the wedding?
