Will 2006 Hatch Glass fit Earlier Models?

I think I may have to replace my hatch glass on my 2005 Suburban (posted here because this question also applies to Yukon/Tahoe) due to the defroster not working. I have noticed that 2006 GMT800 Rear Hatch Glass is different than 00-05 Hatch Glass. The handle and overhead hinge assembly was different on 2006 models. Apparently it's an updated design. I would rather have the improved design if I can find one at a junkyard. Does anyone know if the glass was interchangeable between 05 and 06 or are there slight differences in the hatch itself to accommodate the updated glass design? My gut tells me it will work just fine, figured I would see if anyone had done the swap. Thanks

Yes it will fit. The hinge assembly is exactly the same. When I did my esky taillight conversion on my 2006, I ended up swapping the glass to make everything match up properly with screw holes. I didn't want,to just use double sided tape like everyone else did. Ended up with a hatch off a 2004 and it was exactly the same, direct swap. All,the hinges line up perfectly. Where are you located? I have my 2006 yukon hatch just sitting here. Its fully infected defroster tabs and all. If you're close enough you could pick it up off me?

Thanks for the information! I am located in SC so unfortunately I could not be farther away as it looks like you are in CA. I do appreciate the offer though. Not sure trying to ship it would be practical? I'd love to get it.
