Did you do anything to the transmission? I'll admit to just doing a search for "trans" on the three pages of this thread (as of this post) and only finding references to others' transmissions.

I did see you tuned the transmission, so this is just a question about what you did, if anything, to protect your transmission from the increased power.
I purchased a brand new GM 6180 transmission and torque converter, with all of the improvements (that's why the transmission is shiny in the photos) as part of the project. The motor and transmission were both tuned under Whipple's supervision.

Super cool project, and I bet you're going to be grinning for a long time.

The only question I had is whether you went with a new JBMX torque converter, or upgraded to a better design (billet-backed?) when you screwed the engine to the gearbox?

I 'invent' reasons to go out for a drive each day. The grin is from ear to ear. :)

I'm not sure of the details on the TC, as it came with the new transmission.

Wow, you get serious when you play! Why did the heads come off? Just for new lifters and a cam change or did you change compression for the supercharged engine? I think the 6.2L is a powerful engine bone stock. Can’t imagine adding another 150 HP, it must be strong. Any detonation issues?

It was a project that waited a LONG time (55 years) to do. The team took the heads off to clean them up, install new lifters and cam and gaskets, and some other minor top end parts while the heads were off (like removing/replacing broken exhaust manifold bolts with ARP bolts, and replacing head bolts with ARP bolts.

The motor was tuned to Whipple's specifications, so there are no detonation issues. Just enormous smooth power while the supercharger sings to you.
