leasing a 2019 Tahoe lt or 2019 traverse lt3

The choice is between a very decently loaded Tahoe or a pretty decently loaded traverse.

Why?

Just like Kenny said.

depends on needs. If you tow then there is no discussion. if you are just hauling the family. The Traverse is a serious contender. The third row is actually WAY more spacious and comfortable and easier to access with the second row slide forward seating. the Panaoramic sunroof is really nice. The Tech is more advanced.

the problem with leasing is that its a TERRIBLE lease right now

the MF is high and the residual is just ok so far- there is very little lease support. Here in NY the 3LT with NAv and roof is leasing for $450 before taxes and fees- putting a zero down lase around $550 a month. A premier and High Country have different MF than the LT- putting the lease closer to $700-$750 a month which is about the cost of a low optiones Tahoe LT

What’s the reason for the move?

A traverse is a big step down imo. I’d consider an explorer, forerunner or a Jeep maybe if the Tahoe is too big? Traverses are pretty
***** IMO.

Agreed here. I've heard nothing but bad things about the Traverse.

Well, do you want a truck or a minivan? A truck with body on frame construction that can go just about anywhere you point it in all climes or a unibody based on the Chevy Malibu with a V6?

Ohh and are you ok with a car not designed to shut off at every stop light shutting off at every stop light? The Traverse does get better gas mileage but not enough for me to choose it over the Tahoe.

I own both...a 2018 lt Tahoe w/luxury package and 2018 premier redline traverse (wife). She doesn't have auto fold side mirrors or rain sense wipers, but she did have wireless charging.I'm not a fan of the start stop engine on the traverse nor the cheap style sunroof shade they use.

We have a 2 year old and twins on the way so she needed the bigger car. Hers is much easier to get in and out of, even for my little one.

As others mentioned, depends on your needs and budget.

I had to “Lol” at the way you spelt 4Runner, that was creative.

I agree the Traverse is a HUGE step down. They are a prime example of GM’s poor engineering. Just cheap fleet cars.

I’m a huge Grand Cherokee fanboy. We have had several and currently have a 2017 Summit. While it’s getting a little older, it’s still miles ahead of the most current Acadia/Traverse/Enclave, IMO of course. But it’s not hard to look and see.

Also comes down to needs/wants. I’d rather have a Tahoe. Not sure what the money factors are currently so that’s definitely something that would be a deciding factor for me as well.

Ironically, my uncle was telling me how he was looking for a new Tahoe to replace his 2007. I ended up talking him into a GC Overland.. huge points are that they are nicer and cheaper if you don’t need the space and that pretty much sold him.

I have 2 Tahoe’s now. The lease is up on one and would like less of a payment, if I wasn’t losing that much. Towing is not an issue, only needs to carry mysel, wife and dog for the most part.
Maybe I’m a little off in my calculations but the lease price between the 2 should be 100-150 difference. Am I getting that much more for the 150$. Or is it overkill?

You’re probably getting the same or less with the Tahoe.

Yes. I wouldn’t want to drive one as a loaner let alone rent one or own one...can’t get past the nose on it.

[ Sensitivity edit: the above is HYPERBOLE. the ALL NEW Traverse isn’t that bad. I’d obviously take it as a loaner. ]

There are SO MANY good vehicles out there in that price range. If you’re allowed to look outside GM my vote is do it (if you want something less $$$ than the Tahoe).

I like the look of the explorer. And it’s about the same size. I like the vw atlas too. It’s about the same size too. There are other options that are similar in size and cost.
I also like a Jeep gc and Dodge Durango. Hemis are appealing

I looked into the atlas one day at the dealership. I found the buttons inside were made for small, childlike, fingers. Plus while trying to recline the middle row seats, the handle broke off at the dealership....I tried fixing it but figured it was a omen and we left.

Just my experience.

In my opinion, Americans make the best body on frame full size SUVs, hands down. Reason being, they sell the most trucks, by a huge margin, and therefore have a lot of data and research based on those truck sales that get naturally applied to the SUVs that are based on those trucks.

However, if you’re stepping down to a car based SUV for any reason, then open up your search to include other makes, including Japanese and German. At least look at them so you can make an informed decision.

The shutting off things kills the whole idea of launching when the light goes green. I hate it.
