What's causing this?

2002 Yukon Denali.

I recently had a AC belt tensioner rattle. It was bouncing and I decided to replace it after removing the old one I could see that it was rubbing against a bolt. That holds the steering idler arm braket

I installed a new one and drove for 2 days and it is still rubbing. What is causing it to be so close to the tensioner ?

Could it be that your motor mount has worn out enough to where your engine is sitting lower than it should? I am sure that it shouldn't be close enough to touch the bolt. Maybe someone changed the idler arm and put the bolt in incorrectly. If you can put the bolt in the other way and I bet the head will give you plenty of clearance.

belt is stretched out and allowing tensioner to move outward. New belt wont be so stretched out and will pull tensioner inward away from bolt.

Thank you for the replies. I will get a new belt and inspect my motor mounts

If it still rubs after everything else checks out, reverse that bolt. That will fix your issue.
