I have close to 200,000 miles and was wondering what type of oil I should use right now I do use a synthetic oil from oil Can Henry's. I'm wanting to do it at home and save a few bucks.

Iv always been a castrol guy myself. In my 87 mustang before I replaced the engine that had about 220K miles on it. I was running castrol high mileage. When I removed the heads and checked out the main on the original engine there was no build up or gunk once so ever I'm sure I could have rebuilt that engine and had no issues but I got a deal on a build block. I had gotten the mustang around 150K miles and beat the living crap out of the motor, I was 15-21 years old having that car and you can only imagine what kinds of things I did to that poor engine. It had small bit of blow by at the end of its life so I wanted a transplant and so got a bored engine better pistons and bigger heads. In all I ran the castrol high mileage from the day I got it and after each night at the local drag strip I would change the oil and that engine turned out to be good when I replaced it. That's just my experience and have gone with that oil since that day.

Mobil 1 high mileage 5w-30 here. 147k miles. I bought my truck new, and ever since I started doing my own oil changes (65k miles or so) I've been using Mobil 1.

edited to add: I always change my oil when the oil % gets to zero. I've never done it based on mileage.

Mobil 1 5-30. Run it in every vehicle I own. 1997 Suburban has 230k on it. Have ran Mobil 1 5w-30 for 10 years with no problems.

I've got 260k miles...using 5/30 Mobil Super High Mileage. With this many miles, I couldn't justify the synthetic cost when I'm doing oil changes every 3k miles. Nope, never waited for the oil change message.

137k AMSOIL XL 5W-30 Synthetic with Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filter (through research I've picked it out as the most fitting and highest performing oil filters out there) every 6k miles of course I could go 10k but I don't like the sound of changing it every 10... If I were to go any other route I would definitely stick with Mobil 1 5w30 for sure.

Redline 5W-30 and a k&n filter. Change about every 5k miles and comes out pretty damn clean. Id use castrol if I had to go to a local auto store.

Valvoline 5w30 high Milage synthetic blend with a generic auto part store filter. Just as long as you keep up with your oil changes it shouldn't matter too much

I've had good luck bringing my own oil and filter to an oil change place and they do the change. They usually charge me around $20 for the labor. Sometimes that's worth it to me and other times i change it in my garage...
