What is this under the bumper?

Could somebody please tell me

1:What is this called.
2:What is it for.
3:Would it cause any problems if I removed it.

it is called the lower valance, im not sure of the exact purpose but it would protect your bumper from getting scratched up if you pulled up to a tall curb, protects debris from flying up into the under carage like, maybe some airflow reason, but if you took it off these tabs from the bumper will be shown and wouldn't look nice, BUT they do look nice when they are color matched to the truck

A lot of people pull those off. Especially if you lower your truck. Not a big deal if you want to remove it.

I took it off and found the tabs matching the car's color so I think I will leave it that way.

The reason I wanted to take it off was because every time I park the car it hits the small cement block.

should sell it if you don't need it, there's always someone looking for it.


also: In my Tahoe manual there's a section where it explains how to remove that piece ( if you go off road for clearance issues ) so no problems in taking it off.

You could also leave it on - and park 6 inches farther back!

this is what i always do.. having a 3/5 drop this thing mostly hits everything especially parking curves

it's also used to create turbulance, to send air up to help cool. Older car once, a buddy pulled his off and car started running hotter on highway.

thats how it was explained back then, not sure nowdays if that plays the same role.
